Some people have all the luck! Growing up, my family couldn't afford to collect much of as anything with a face value greater than a penny. It's great you have friends who think of you. Now that I'm older I have some disposable income I use to buy coins and stamps for my personal collection/accumulation. I've been able to put an Lincoln collection together with the exception of the 1909-S VDB, the 1914-D, the 1955 Double Die and the 1972 Double Die. Most dealers don't seem to want to take the time to sell coins for less than a buck or two. So I go through their 'junk' bins to find higher grade early Lincolns. So my early Lincolns average a grade of VF. But getting back to the accumulation. Before sending the 1974 Kennedy halves are you checking them for DDOs and DDRs. Some can be worth a few bucks over face.

If you're going to cash in those uncirculated $2 notes, why not save them and give them out as gifts when you need to dole out cash rather than turn them into the bank? At the least they'll make nice conversation pieces. If you have/know kids that you'd give a couple bucks every now and then, that would be nice. They'd get a nice looking note versus all of them battered up notes we see. Just tell them that they have no special collector value.
