My mum was born in Bedford street in 1928 - she was one of about 13 kids. She came to Australia in 1948, got married and I popped out in 1953. She died in August 2022 at 94 years old. I miss her very much.

Grew up in Nicholson st in early 50s,it was a great community neighbour's helping each other, children playing together we grew up in difficult times,we might have been poor but we knew respect but still had to be streetwise as far as danger wen't....I don't know why they did not just renovate the tenaments's they were a great size.....it's funny how people remember the bad old Gorbals even today and i am nearly 60,when they ask where you are from I am proud to say the Gorbals then there is a silence...nowt as strange as folk....like the pic of Groucho Mr Tahaney..............

I have an old photography its black and white of myself sister Maureen and, others in the photo are Tommy, Doreen Wright, Angela Mc Court, Moria Mc Callum. This is what memoirs are made of. Our childhood is more important especially than think .🙂

My ancestors dwelt in the Gorbals for generations, during the 19th century and maybe the early 20th century until my grand father moved down to Leeds then Halifax. I look at these pictures and wonder if any of the people in the older photographs might be relatives. Father emigrated to Australia, I was born there and I want to move to Yorkshire...or maybe Glasgow.

I was in Gorbals a few months ago and seen my old school is not there anymore its new flats. I am wondering where I could track old schools' photos between 1958 and 1959.Some of my classmates' names are Catharine Spence, Myra Minto and one the boy was called Tony I don't recall his second name.😊
