51:11 Hearing children, with their whole lives ahead of them, playing in the school playground, while walking around a graveyard full of people who have had their time and now gone, is always such a poignant moment. What a reminder that we will all come to be as we see one day.

Old Hampstead Village is a charming village, straight out of the past. Autumn makes this even more obvious!!. The houses and pubs give an old-fashioned and romantic charm to this beautiful place. Dickens is not far away!! Ghosts must be common at night in the narrow streets. Beautiful ladies with hats and gloves and furs accompanied by gentlemen in coats and top hats must meet each other just by closing their eyes. The ginger cat in the cemetery could tell us some great stories if he wanted to!! The charm of cemeteries, even haunted, is wonderful. Thank you Friend WW for this beautiful visit to the past. 😀😀😀😀😀

Such a lovely walk, the houses are all soooo beautiful. How lucky are those who get to live in them. It seems like such a pleasant area with all those trees and the overgrown cemetery, such an atmospheric area. It was poignant to hear the children laughing and playing as you wandered past those headstones of inhabitants long gone from here. Thank you so much! 🙏🏻

Hi there, Thank you so much for doing this detailed walk around Hampstead village as you promised. Is there anywhere in London more beautiful, characterful and peaceful than Hampstead- I don’t think so. This was such a atmospheric walk, especially around the cemetery with the sounds of the children playing happily in the school playground nearby, but eerily not visible. There is still plenty of scope for some great walking videos in Hampstead. You could explore the many narrow alleys and passageways, also climb the many pretty steps. Hampstead just keeps on giving at each different time of year, at each different time of day, it never disappoints.
@WatchedWalker Жыл бұрын
@johnorchin8567 It's my pleasure, thank you for the suggestion! It's such a beautiful area, I feel I will need to make a return visit to capture more of what it has to offer, are there any specific narrow alleys and passageways I should cover that I haven't yet?
@johnorchin8567 Жыл бұрын
Yes indeed. If you walk from the High street along Flask Walk beyond the pub, on your left is Lutton Terrace walk up there looking at some very early philanthropic housing, flats with open stairwells, continuing to Mansfield Place and Streatley Place. Walk up Heath Street on your right is charming Elm Row. Behind Christchurch is Christchurch Passage. On the other side of Heath Street there are two passageways linking up with Hampstead Grove. At the top end of Windmill Hill is Judges Walk going across to Branch Hill. Well Road and Well Walk are connected by Wells Passage near the Chalybeate fountain. So just to mention a few!!

My great grandparents lived in Hampstead, in a house on Heathhurst Road. But this was before the gentrification of London when Hampstead would've been seen as an ordinary place to live. Now it's very up market but then it was just a village in greater London.

@@WatchedWalker : What I meant was before the 1960s those lovely Georgian cottages may have looked old and shabby because people didn't value quaintness like we do now. My old family house on Heathurst Rd is worth about 2.5 million now! But in 1937 my grandad sold it for just one thousand pounds. What an amazing rise in value!

WOW! Beautiful autumn/Halloween walk! You never disappoint, dear WW. I especially loved the cemetery, with the children's voices happily shouting and laughing in the background - a sharp contrast and shows the continuity of life; from birth to death, it's what awaits us all. Now I'm getting existential on you; sorry!! The weather there looks nice, but here in Chicago it's getting downright cold, with highs of only 40°F during the day, but at least it's sunny. Won't be so lucky on Halloween, tomorrow - it's supposed to be cold AND rainy. Oh well, it's getting into November where it usually bottoms out for a few weeks anyway. Looking forward to more of your walks as I sit cozily wrapped up in blankets with a mug of hot tea, coffee or chocolate!!❤

I only saw two logos but maybe I got somewhat bored in the graveyard section and lost concentration - it was a little tedious I thought. On the other hand it captured a depressive sort of mood and the squirrels seemed happy enough there! 🥱 I wonder who has the gardening contract!

I don't think you gave any understanding as to how life is outside of your own country. (I'm suspecting America). Your comment about it being "boring" in the graveyard is entitled and rude.
