Open Gate, this mare remembers Renato. She's not fighting him hardly at all. And I don't think the other person who came, didn't take their time with her, like Renato does. That makes a huge difference to the horse. If you saw, when she took her foot away from Renato, as soon as he asked for it again, she was already lifting it up for him!! She TRUSTS Renato. That's got to be one of the worst hoof conditions I've seen on a youtube video. I've watched quite a few donkey and cow videos, but this poor horse's foot looked especially painful. Thanks for helping the horse to have relief.❤

I saw a farrier on utube that makes hard soles for damaged hives. They go over the entire hoof just like a hoof. It protects the damaged hoof and is very strong and u can see through it. Even put a shoe on it. I can’t remember his name but that would help so many of these neglected hooves. ❤

When i see a horse in this condition, it makes me both angry, and sad. There is no reason whatsoever for a horse to be in this shape! If the owner cant afford to have a Farrier and/or Vet treat this, then they shouldn't be an owner.

I can't see that this work being done, is going near far enough. Look to me that the hoofs should have been cut back al ot further, and the frog should have been cleaned

There are some techniques that would use an epoxy for this, but simply filling the crack doesn't solve the flexing issue. In fact a glob of anything in there would feel like having a stone in your shoe as you walk, so need a way to also secure the rest of the hoof. As he said, she has almost no hoof to trim, so she may not even have enough to put a shoe on either. However, you could also epoxy a special shoe that's made for this problem. After a few weeks or a couple months, there might be enough growth to put a real show on.

I have seen a couple of horseshoe nails put in sideways across a crevice and then clinched to hold the crack closed. It worked well.

In the U.S. they will fill the bad cracks with a material like wood plastic filler or other synthetics to support the weakened hoof wall. The mare didn't seem spooked. just in pain! She trusted Renoldo. This is sad neglect and abuse! Thank you for what you do!

Usually a vet won't do a very good job, they can do a functional trim, but not always a technical one.

I had a thoroughbred who had very bad hooves when he came to me so I picked rosehip, did halves of them and dried them in the sun. I took the shoes off and gave him rosehip in his food every day and when the spring came. I could put on shoes and them never fall off anymore.

Renato is doing a great job with this horse. I haven't seen earlier trims on this horse so I don't know what's been said before about it but it looks like she's foundered before and may have coffin bone rotation and would definitely benefit from some boots or casting, maybe even some wedged soles in the casts to relieve the pressure from the coffin bone on the sole and let it grow better. She has very clean and dry hooves which has probably helped keep thrush and white line disease at bay which is really good. Wishing the best for this mare amd hoping she will let you help her more and more every visit. Lovely to see Renato's patience with such a nervous horse, it will definitely help to build her trust.

Any type of livestock is “high maintenance “. If the owners are not prepared to do the right thing by these animals they should not own them. Some of the suffering seem in some of the videos on KZbin is inexcusable. God’s creatures are not here to be neglected, abused and exploited. Man why is no one calling the cops or something? This looks flat out like animal abuse. How... god.. it kills me to see that. That horse must be in SO MUCH pain. Whoever is responsible deserves to go to jail and be forbidden from owning any animals for the rest of their life. IDFC if that sounds extreme. That is an intelligent, feeling, sentient living being under their care. Horse or dog or human, doesn't matter, it's abuse. If I had seen that, I would've called the cops, idc.

Oh looky that. I had a filly who did similar to herself when she slip under a dog fence. Staples failed to hold it together because it a highly flexible area. But with persistence and restricted stable confinement I was able to get the wound to close and over time it shrunk down to a fine scar.

Well, it's an improvement, for looks only. More needs to be done. She needs a Softrider horse shoe or Soft ride boot to cover the hoof while cracks grow out and farrier can continue to work on keeping it trimmed down gradually until hoof is even in height with the other. But it is not fixed. None of her feet look very good, but those cracked front hooves are so bad! And sometimes a wound like that will cause a Veterinarian to have to put her down, depending on where it is & how deep it goes. I hope medicine was applied to that terrible wound, and also the hoof, (if you even bothered to clean it, do the frog, and check for abscess). I saw flies entering the cracked hoof, too. It means they smell underlying rot and infection. Poor horse. I worry she won't recover, and will suffer. Take her to an Animal Doctor for advice and medications, please! If you are proud of your work, you won't mind him/her to view it.
