My life has taken me all over the world, living in places like Putin's Russia, and serving far and wide with the UK military. I was born in Longwood and find this video full of memories. Places I happily played as a child and to do this day have deep rooted feelings for.

Great video, great history, did you know the saying piss poor came from tanning and was for those who used to sell there urine for tanning in the very early days, but then you have even poorer families who didn't even have a pot to piss in meaning they was so poor they couldn't even sell there urine.

Like Aldebaran 92, I lived in many places in UK and abroad, when doing military service, Singapore, and Aden included. As a boy I lived in Wiliam Street, Crosland Moor, and often walked trough Milnsbridge on the way to the cricket grounds at Broad Oak, Marsden, Slaithwaite and, my favourite, Paddock. So this excellent little video with your knowledgeable chat about the local history of Milnsbridge was of great interest. Many thanks and I do hope to see more of your 'local' videos

Looks like you had great weather while you were filming. As a schoolboy, I walked every day from Scar Lane in Milnsbridge, up through Longwood cemetery and past the tower on my way to school at Outlane whatever the weather, sunny, raining or even deep snow. Couldn't do that today!

The new camera is starting to feel like a far more creative tool.... And I thank you for commenting on the footage.... I do believe I can give production value with the Lumix G9.... Still learning its strengths and it weaknesses though.... Cheers Anthony.... stay safe pal 👍👍👍

My father was the designer at James Sykes in Milnsbridge pre and post war. Is the mill still there do you know? I visited once, the noise of the looms was terrifying. Your Vlog tempts me to travel up when the pandemic leaves us. Lovely filming, thank you.

Very impressed with that camera. Will you be taking your gopro as back up on the coast to coast?
@RobertJohnKerrUK

Firstly thanks for watching....and commenting...👍👍👍.... Now the GoPro situation... ha..... I sold all my GoPro stuff and I and a lot...!!!..... This new camera and the new lens ain’t cheap.... I couldn’t justify to myself paying out so much for the G9 and the 8 to 18mm lens...and still having the GPH8... So no I won’t be taking any backup camera...... That said.... During the transition between GPH8 to Lumix G9....I have wondered if I should have kept it..... But that was then..... Right now the learning curve isn’t as steep.... and I am enjoying the amazing reliability of the G9 .... I can be far more creative as well.... Question for you.... I think they will skip the GoPro hero 9 do you ?....And if so what do we expect from the GoPro hero 10 ?.? 👍👍👍
