Johnathan is the most tragic JoJo except probably George (Jorge.) He didn't even get to learn hamon, stands, or any battle skills (besides being a pilot in the RAF) and gets killed instantly before he can really interact with the "legacy" or story at all in a meaningful way except being the catalyst to send Lisa Lisa over the edge, lol. Jorge really drew the shortest straw of all the JoJo's. Him and Johnathan are the most tragic. At least Johnathan got to learn hamon and fight one of the main recurring villains of the entire series though, lol. Jorge just got eaten.

Jonah blargle i feel joseph is a stronger natural hamon user since he was already pretty powerful withoit even needing to train, and when he did train he was able to take on 3x what Jonathan did. Jonathan was strong no doubt but he spent considerable time with Zeppeli training before they went after Dio. While Joseph was able to land a hit on Whamu without any significant training, and when he did train he took out Esidisi with ease.

Liliputian07 The idea they have to be goodie two-shoes is stupid. The best characters in fiction are ones who struggle with emotional and moral issues. Jojos like Joseph and Johnny who aren't little saints are by far the most "human" and "real" characters. The ones like Johnathan who are pure morality with very little personality are poorly written.

Liliputian07 lmao if anyone in the Joestar family is gonna cheat then it's Joseph. He's a trickster who lives a carefree life. He cheated but that doesn't make him "evil". I'm not glorifying the fact that he cheated, only that it's not really that surprising. Making someone like Jotaro a cheater would be bad writing.

Yes, grey morality can be good. However, it can also be written terribly. That's no secret. As such, grey morality is not inherently more compelling than morality that leans more heavily towards one side or the other. 2. The best characters in fiction are written well. It has nothing to do with the basis of the character. While I appreciate the shit out of people like Walter White or Tony Soprano, they are *on-tier* with a well-written Joker or, like, Gon from HunterxHunter. These characters are written to be good. They don't have goodness thrust upon them due to their moral compass. 3. Joseph was originally a well-written character because he was fun. BT and SDC both had great Joseph moments because Joseph's personality carried him through narrative well. However, upon the revelation of his adultery and his... hollow appearance in DIU, this is called into question. This decision retroactively hurts what the audience thinks about the character. That is, if you think adultery is wrong. Which it is in 99% of circumstances. 4. Characters work only within their circumstances. LOBO doesn't work in Hamlet as much as King Lear doesn't work in A:TLA. I walk into JoJo expecting batshit fantasy shounen, not an examination of why good people do bad things. This is not a character-driven story. Thus, any attempt to make a character in it complex is moot. Basically, poor decision on Araki's part because he couldn't think of a way to have a new Joestar while keeping Jotaro the same age.
