My wife and I worked at KFC in Palmy back in 1973?,I cooked she served and I can say with hindsight that we kept a spotlessly clean shop and our chicken was better cooked than the sloppy half cooked rubbish we get today.

That was an awesome store, as a kid I could remember the lines out the door and the food coming from sliding windows from out back

It's funny now more locally-owned shops make fried chicken sometimes better than kfc.

You think people took pride in their work back then? Agreed the chicken most KFC's offer now is dry, over cooked shit.
Used to play this with my band as a crowdwarmer at pubs in 1979.

When we had KFC at home (NZ) my brother and I thought we were rich. We didn't know what obesity was then but we loved our KFC. It's not the same like it used to be, other things that have changed is we are now glued to a screen of some kind versus back then we went outside to play or ran around school or played on the gyms between classes. Maybe we should go back to those times where we entertain ourselves and not be entertained by the screens in front of us. Screen addiction is a real thing.

Thanks for putting this clip up. I still remembered all the words. It would not be allowed today.
I can remember that being on every add break. NZs first fast-food outside of fish n' chips. I'm pretty sure there was even a birds nest up on the pole in Lower Hutt too. We only had a B+W TV back then.

Cos there were as many takeaway shops 50 years ago as there are now aye..... Now that there is a KFC, MC, BK, BF, Carl's, Wendy's, and every other small brand fried shop + all the F&C stores + a Liq store on every corner had nothing to do with it aye? Nope let's just blame dieting and fitness.. what's the bet you are fat. Lmao.

This ad was on all the time on the mid-70s in New Zealand. Looking at it now, in 2023, I do wonder about the messages it sends, such as that eating KFC connects with obesity. But, not an issue in mid-70s I guess. This was when American fast foods were working to penetrate the NZ market. Before that, we had our own Kiwi hamburger and sandwich places, but they were not franchised, they were not fatty, and they had no secret herbs and spices beyond those of each individual’s outlet. But our real takeout/takeaway was fish and chips. These were deep fried then rolled up in newspaper. You ripped an end off the paper and enjoyed the heck out of your “greasies”.

You've should've been there when the boss ordered KFC for the staff during the last monster sale event in 2014. So it was the Albion Park Rail KFC where I had to pick up 100 chicken pieces for a 12:30pm pickup. So i arrived at 12:40 & the food was ready. Drove back to work and noticed a large oil stain in the back of the bosses car. It was half cooked!!! A few of the staff and customers were brave enough to eat it. One customer woofed 10 pieces and went home sick (after spending half n hour in the dunny) It was a horror lol
