That happened to me too when I played the game as a kid I was so annoyed that I had to start again. Also one time one of those brown pigs actually escaped from the fenced area and head butted crash all the way to the sandy beach below and killed him right there I think it was a glitch

I have never died at the Mecha Bandicoot part of the final boss fight. Idk if there is a unique death animation to that but I don't have a PS2 anymore so I'll never find out. Nobody on KZbin died on that part even on purpose as it's very easy to beat.

Good thing the game is generous with the amount of lives you can get. I made the worst mistake as a kid of not farming lives for the ant valley and I never made it past that long blue, red, green platform near the end.

I also did discovered a glitch to get infinite wumpa fruit. I have this game on the xbox 360 hardrive, thats how i'm able to play some xbox original games including this game. And discover some glitches during the prosses of playing those games.
