I'm so glad some old arcades still exist in Japan. Lived in Japan from 1991 to 2001, possibly the boom arcade years where there was a game center in almost every corner. These days they are mostly gone. Places like this is like traveling back in time.

The sight of an amusement arcade sends pleasant shivers through me. I remember the smell still: a mixture of Mr.Sheen, bubblegum and cigarette smoke. If I'm going to be picky, the cabinets looked a bit uniform, but that's of course to save space. At the age of 43, I finally got into fighting games.

I’m really glad Round 1’s been bringing over some of their Nesica Live cabinets to the US. Even if there’s only a couple cabs, they’ve got a really wide variety of old games as well as some indies such as Skullgirls and Akatsuki Blitzkamf. Really disappointed my local Round 1 doesn’t have any, and the fighting game section it did have shrunk dramatically since it opened.

@@RetroMoments Blitzkamf is PC freeware and the arcade version can be emulated with online multiplayer via Flycast + Fightcade, I definitely recommend giving it a try. very interesting to see all of the arcade machines are in English. Japanese people have fully embraced the language it seems.

Yea, I agree. Usually, Japanese people are fine with having menus in English. Its been like that since the late 80s.

Time flies, i used to think wanna come to japan to experience the latest arcade game Gundam vs Gundam maxi boost, but i just don't know where to find this arcade game, it's a very fun game to play. You know? Sometimes i think it's better to play fighting game in a real arcade machine than our modern console playstation or PC.

Oh I see Maxi Boost everywhere still. I just recorded another local arcade here in Japan. They had Maxi Boost. Stay tuned for that video! Oh definitely! Its way better playing with proper sticks and a machine that was built for a specific game.
