You're not old by the way. I'm 45 with a back injury and recovered from a bad fall that has gave me arthritis since 2017 and I'm still running circles around these young teen, 20s, and early 30s guys. I've always wanted to do BJJ but I have this nail fungus on my right foot that keeps coming back so yeah, I just stick to reality fighting and boxing. Sucks.

I love seeing how no-gi is growing in popularity. The GI absolutely has its place and adds a whole different aspect, but as a wrestler, coach, mma fan, and law enforcement I find that no-gi to be much more applicable to a much broader audience. At 43, this guy rolling a 59 is an absolute machine. He’s living proof that if you use it, it’s much easier to keep it. To the young guys out there, don’t let yourself grow sedentary. It’s much easier to keep it than get it back. Follow this gentleman’s lead.

Sir, you're my inspiration to continue my journey in BJJ. I'm a 40 years old guy, next year I will be 41. Last time I almost quit BJJ for good and lack all motivations to continue training and start questioning something like " you're getting old Shahril, just forget it. Your younger self has gone. You're not going to be fast, agile, like when you're in your 20's. I cried down in tears thinking I will never go back to the past and regretting all the time of why I didn't start the BJJ training earlier when I was early 30 years old. Now after seeing your video I believe there's hope for me to achieve something even in my 40's. I may not be as fast as those 20 years old guys in my gym. But at least I'm doing my best to train, improving myself and today for the first time, I found your video and it did motivates me to not give up and continue. Thank you for the video. Greetings from Malaysia. Sorry about my English because English is not my mother's tongue. 😊

You can be pride of yourself and we all dream to be like you at your age . You have a lot of courage to put so much pression at your age and risking injury rolling hard with such a strong guys ( while the wresler was a good one and not spazzy) For myself I am too scared and while I love bjj , I only love it as long it s good thing for my health , this is why I only train 1 or 2 times a week for 10 years now with out any injuried I am still young but around me everyone have back/knee /shoulder /finger problems because of bjj. I know at some point even with a low training frequence my body will not be able to maintain with out injuries ( I always roll super hard and I only roll at 100% since it s my only training session of the week ) . probably at 40 I will think leaving bjj for a softer sport . So yeah you impressed me a lot you are a beast!

@@vyronphillips4568 He was absolutely trying. You can see him using full strength to attempt to escape from bottom and was unable. I like these kind of videos where size, skill level, age, etc. is compared and contrasted. Cool stuff. Have you guys ever seen the video where Dana White took a bunch of top ranked UFC fighters to a military infantry base (think it was Marines not Army not totally sure) and they sparred the troops in unarmed hand to hand and also in melee weapons (sticks/batons, bayonets, plastic training knifes, etc) with safety gear (helmets, rib cage & knee like football pads) and the land troops WHOOPED the mma fighters asses with that stuff-cool and informational content like this one was.

That was refreshing. 59yrs old vs 26yrs old. Completely different bodys. 175lbs vs a 250 pounder. A Marine at that. My son has been in the Corp for just a little over a year. He is almost 6'3" and 170lbs of lean muscle. 6% body fat. I was teaching him martial arts before he just up and left a stable family.

@@tangomantactical Not sure what administration has to do with it (?) I enlisted to get out of the rut that I felt like I was in. I've known many families that were surprised when their kids enlisted, including college and future college students. Odds are he will do one enlistment and maybe get back into college when he finishes. Sometimes a guy wants a challenge and structure, and the Corps will definitely provide that. I hope they give/gave him a job and location that he benefits from. Don't take it personally. You'll always be just as important to him as before he enlisted. It's hard to watch your boy become independent and become a man. They don't stay kids long enough, right?

I started at a new gym pushing 53. On average I am 30 years older than my gym mates but focus a lot of defense. It was survival of the fittest for awhile, I got submitted 10 times a class, defense was survival. Plus I went into it with some "life trophies" (injuries). Professor Connors is correct, defense takes more energy compared to attacking and he did some serious defense in my opinion! Looking forward to learning more from this Professor Connors.
