Can we have a talk real quick about "pranks" and alot of these new "prankers"? Some of them are doing it incredibly well, and some of them are doing it incredibly wrong. Alot of these prankers aren't actually doing "pranks" or even "social experiments" at all. We aren't compelled to watch them out of humor- we are compelled to watch them out of morbid curiosity just like we would a car crash video. Just because the title says "PRANK" doesn't anyone's watching it for any actual "prank" values. Holding someone WHO YOU DON'T KNOW in a state of perpetual belief that they will be harmed, assaulted, or killed is not a prank. And paying them off with a bunch of money and labeling it a "random act of kindness" does not change what has transpired, even if they allow you to "purchase their forgiveness". This doesn't make someone a good "pranker", it makes someone a dick with a good brain for "must click concepts". And if that's the route one chooses, then they might as well make some real money and produce porn or snuff videos- there's a large, profitable market for both of those too. If you don't have the creativity to do anything better than reproduce the old "wanna see my ____", then "pull out a small toy from your pocket" - or any other idea which solely banks on making people think you are picking a fight with them- then have the decency to just call yourself a "jerk", not a "pranker". Additionally, making a video where you put someone who you don't know in a position where they feel like they must knock you out in order to defend themself, and then you go and make your next video about "no-bullying" or "giving to the homeless"- in order to affirm your "good-moral standing with the public"- does not make you a good person or a good artist. It makes you a good manipulator, and a hypocritical one a that. A prank is a creative, fleeting, sometimes startling moment where another person is taken out of their normal life and into a hyper-reality, then quickly released, and with a good story to tell when they get home. Like, "A freaking ninja darted out of the bushes at the park we were at, it scared the HELL out of me! Then he just disappeared! I was like, 'Is there REALLY a ninja in this park?'". Not, "This guy walked up to me while I was on Venice beach, got way too close to me, wouldn't leave, then just grabbed my pizza and started eating it. He just said, 'What? I'm hungry!' So I stood up and he stayed right in my face- so I had to knocked him out! Then all his idiot friends ran out saying 'It's a prank! It's a prank!'" See the difference here? (Yes this references one of FouseyTube's videos. I'm not a fan. He may have some good ideas, but he has zero morals. Just a desperate sucker for money and notoriety.) My message to my awesome fans, who have been with me since I was making Urban Ninja videos for NO PROFIT WHATSOEVER is: I ask that you be conscious about who you support, and who you give money to whenever you click "like", "subscribe", or "play".
