Actually pls read my comment ppl usually aren't happy in life who scam because they are in a situation where they have to at someone else's expense earn money & it's never a good feeling that someone else lost because of me & some ppl are very lucky like you because you automatically said they have to be heartless & some of the ppl with the biggest hearts have done things that crushed them & for them to put themselves before their morals they probably don't love themselves enough & are trying to make ends meat or fill a hole. It's bloody common sense that it doesn't make it Moral or okay! I have been both sides from getting scammed to being the scammer & I can have empathy for different reasons. I think the old man didn't need the money as much as the person who scammed him that Matters as it's widely accepted that It's not a reason that justifies it if you're talking Laws or Morals & God won't be happy but if he has a heart than he will think about it later & if it affects him he will have from when he changes to his life ends to ask forgiveness & be a contribution to society & not a Menace & maybe help the people that were in whatever category that made him not able to put his Morals before Money or whatever he needed the money before actually. Remember that's not a genuine show the money is only the ticket to the show. Pls very careful when you judge ones actions there are actual situations that are more heartless when ppl steal from pregnant women that live in their car & maybe you can call that heartless but not every bad deed means you are a heartless person although it wasn't a deed that made you feel good inside. God always shows you it's not worth it trust me I was a 16 or 17 year old when I sold a couple a fake phone & although I needed that money more it didn't justify where I can proudly say that now Even after the Explaining nobody cares & I was still in the wrong but at least I can relate & spread the word that says althought it's not a Moral justification ppl's situation could even make the Victim forgive them & even wonder why they didn't do anything worse for money.
