The ORB released Elvira in the early 80's. It was a big hit. This version of the Oaks has been together for 50 years. They are on their farewell tour.

Austin got that t-shirt when he was a kid and went to the Oaks concert. It now hangs framed in his house after they all autographed it. ORB's are legends and HF admires them greatly.

I'm so old that I remember a controversy back in the day about William Lee Golden (long white beard) letting his beard grow! They harmonize so beautifully together and the evident affection and respect among all of them is so touching. This is a great collaboration between Home Free & The Oak Ridge Boys. "Elvira" was a huge hit for The Oakridge Boys in 1981. You can see the great respect these 2 groups have for each other. The Oakridge Boys are mentors to Home Free & it is like they are passing the baton to a younger version of themselves. They have performed together on the Grand Ole Opry. Adam Rupp's vocal percussion is the best in the business. He can simulate drums & any other sounds perfectly. Home Free is my favorite a cappella group. They are so talented yet very humble guys.

They are a very authentic harmony group, and Home Free knows it, too, which is why they are so respectful to them. The smallest guy for the ORB is the bassist lol. Go figure. The Oak Ridge boys are indeed legends in country music. They do still perform, and I saw them in their earlier days. Their bass singer used to be a backup singer for Elvis Presley. I read somewhere that after meeting Adam, the beatboxer, the Oaks, wanted to steal him to work in their group.😅 Guess they know pure talent when they see it. That shirt they signed for Austin is displayed in his home in a wall picture. This song is a fan favorite at HomeFree concerts. Anyway, it was for me.❤😂

Elvira was a big hit in the 80’s for the Oaks. It’s kind of like HF is taking over for them which is so cool. Yeah the a cappella groups are friends and Tim has helped both Geoff of VP and Avi of PTX to go lower which is also cool. HF has a lot of fun with this song in concert. Tim will play with the audience and invite them to go lower. He goes really low with it. Richard Sterban of the Oak Ridge boys apparently sang with Elvis back in the day. Fun Facts The Oak Ridge Boys started as a southern gospel group and went on in the country scene where they did phenomenal. But always kept their gospel roots. Elvira was released in 1981. This song was written in the 1960's, and there were versions before the ORB did it. (Kenny Rogers and the First Edition did a version in 1970, though never released as a single, along with some others.) ORB's version is the most well-known, as it crossed over on the pop charts as well as the country charts. Another video that involved a legendary artist offering to collaborate with Home Free on a classic song is Don MacLean with "American Pie". It was a 50th anniversary edition of the song, done during the pandemic.

As much as I hate to admit, I wasn’t really a fan of the song a couple of decades ago. I knew of it, but didn’t listen to country music back then. Of course, Home Free has introduced us to so much country music, and artists we never knew, or even liked, but now love! How could anyone not smile and sing along with this video, though? It’s so much fun! Also, I read somewhere that the ORB’s are on their farewell tour. It would be so cool if they would ask Home Free to perform this song live at a couple of their last shows and pass the hat to them! Both groups truly are great friends and have the utmost respect for each other. A side note regarding the Redheaded Neighbor: I am so glad you two introduced us to her! I absolutely love her and her channel! She really is quite impressed with Home Free and is even reacting to Tim’s solo work now, as well. She is a delight! Of course, you two are a double delight! I still love you two, too! This was like a party watching you two react to this one!

The Oak Ridge Boys always inspired Home Free in ways they admitted to each other later in their time together. Austin and Tim grew up listening to them and loved to be able to sing with them. You saw Austin "fanboying" over them, but he wasn't alone. They all enjoyed their time together so much they did it again. I highly recommend that song as well. "Beautiful star of Bethlehem"

I grew up on 70's and 80's country and saw The Oak Ridge Boys no less than 6 times growing up. Love them. And to have them and Home Free collaborate is a dream come true. Love them both. ORB are not acapella. They came up as Southern Gospel and had harmonies for days.

I just upset I didn't get to see the Oak Ridge Boys before they retire this year. Yes they have some great songs. I grew up on them back in the day. HF also sings Flowers on the Wall by the Statler Brothers in honor of their bass singer that passed.

Partially why Adam is sitting alone is because of the amount of saliva that exits Adam's mouth while beatboxing! I've seen the Oak Ridge Boys 3X in concert. Home Free has had a close relationship with the Oak Ridge Boys since this video. Elvira was a major hit for the Oak Ridge Boys in the 1980s. It crossed over from the country charts so even non-country fans heard it on the radio. The Oak Ridge Boys now consider Home Free to be their musical successors. Not surprising that Austin was getting their autographs. Austin especially grew up hearing the Oak Ridge Boys.

If you like this video and if you are a country music fan you really check out the Oakridge Boys I really enjoy the Oakridge Boys they wrote this song years ago. There is No beat boxer in the Oakridge Boys. If you want a good other song with these two groups you should check out little star of Bethlehem they all do little star of Bethlehem with one other person not in either group called Jeffrey east.
