Yes these old Mercedes-Benz trucks were build strong, and are a favorite in the Mid-East and Gulf countries going back to the 50's and even earlier. If you see, every part of the panels is rounded and mostly in the x and y planes. Eg. the door skin is rounded and the top corner panels both inner and outer, thus giving more ridgidity per area. More rounding in the front and that panel is also part of the main outer mudguard. The front, and whole cab, rounded w/screen have little drag - aerodynamic - in strong windy, snowy weather the wind is cut efficiently. VW Beetles also had this design feature of rounded panels.
