I got this game as a Christmas present back when I was 8. It was interesting, but I didn't understand how to play fully(casting magic escaped me, so I could never make it past the first boss), and it had to compete with the second Ninja Turtles game for attention. Then one day I got sick at school and had to stay out for a week. During that time I picked up Faxanadu again, and just so happened to figure out how to cast magic...the rest of that week is just a joyful blur of beating this game. And I must have gone through it a dozen times till my nes finally gave out. Notpads full of Mantras, and a childhood full of great memories. This music in engraved in my conscious. Thanks Falcom and Hudson!

I think i was also 8 at the time. Also got it for christmas. I'm not a native English speaker, and did not learn English for a couple more years from school. Casting magic and shit was OK, I got that alright, but taking elixirs to the three fountains and using wingboots? Way over my head.

There is something magical about 8-bit music, and this is one of the best soundtracks on any NES game! Great memories of playing this with my dad back in the day. Still dust it off and beat it every so often. I love the Dartmoor and the Mist themes the best; they used to creep me out!

Wonderful memories of playing this with my dad too. I remember we hit the land of mist super late on a Friday night. The music was eery and unnerving, making me glance over my shoulder at shadows moving on the walls. We played all night and emerged from the mist just as the sun was starting to come up outside. Freaking epic!
