Best Mega Man soundtrack on NES. Mega Man 2 is a absolute classic, yes, but this one... Maybe it's only me, but Capcom made an extra effort here, with more elaborated, longer tunes. Makes me think that the composer had fun doing the work. These songs never left my head even after twenty-four years after hearing them for the first time.

***** Funny you say that cuz Keiji Inafune said himself that this was the Mega Man he had the least fun working with. Due to the top dogs rushing shit to make the release date. Inafune himself said there was so much more to do and to fix that if given the time the game wouldve been even better but we got a 75% finished game instead that still kicked ass.... I could only imagine if he and his team were given the time.

Maybe this explains the "Controller 2 tricks" that only exists on this game, and the fact that this is the only game in which the bosses have a moving pattern so hardly predefined, that they Castle rooms are exactly the same as they were during the first fights. Anyway, I agree with you... Imagine how a 100% finished game would looks like!

I was 6 years old when Mega Man 3 was released; I came home from a friend's place one day to the sound of my brother, hollering at me to come downstairs to check out our new game. He handed me the controller and told me I could pick any level I wanted (this was the first time I ever played a Mega Man title) so the song at the 04:50 mark holds a special place in my heart. I know he'll never stumble upon this page but... thank you Dad for buying me this game.

It's such a shame that the recent SPACELAB9 "MEGA MAN: Best of Mega Man 1-10 LP" didn't include a single track from Mega Man 3. I'm glad that you've provided us with it. I personally believe Mega Man 3 music is one of the best of the series. I was told that the Capcom team picked what they thought were the best. I wish that Nintendo had thought about stereo sound with the NES as in-depth as these sound. A little bit of effects makes a huge difference and borderlines 16-bit. Guess they couldn't afford to add any extra sound processing, not to mention it would fall back on game developers to utilize it. I'm always so impressed to hear 8-bit music presented like this because not only is it nostalgic, but it far surpasses what was available at the time.

This soundtrack definitely brings back great childhood memories. My friend stayed over for the night while we collaborated on trying to beat this game. Pizza and soda for dinner as I wrote down the password to save our progress (we watched Batman while we ate), then up until the late hours of the night getting past the Megaman2 reincarnates that inhabited Gutsman's body and working our way into Wily's fortress thereafter. It wasn't until the following morning that we beat the final boss. After much experimentation we figured out that you have to use Top spin on the robots head after weakening him with hard knuckle. Mom surprised us with a pancake breakfast that morning, which we enjoyed very much after victory. Then off to play outside while one of us pretended to be Megaman and the other one of Wily's robots that he had to contend with. Later that afternoon my friend's mom came by to pick him up since it was Sunday and we had to get ready for school the next day. Childhood sure was great and I miss every little moment from that time. And John you sure were a great pal and I'm glad that you came along for the journey. Sucks that we grew apart as we got older but I guess that's all part of growing up and going our separate ways in life. Luckily a while back I found the Megaman collection on ps2 so I can revisit those days whenever I like, and for sure I have you there in thought just like how you were in the good ol days. And in that moment I couldn't be happier.

I think MM3 was the first NES game I ever played. My first memory is of Spark Man stage and being blown away at how cool the music was! I was super young and obviously died a lot but didn't care because then I was able to listen to the Password theme and Enemy Select all the time. To this day the stage select screen is one of my favorite tunes of ANY game. Thanks for the upload!

Cant believe i havent commented on this one yet, but im ready to be flamed. This is my favorite Mega Man soundtrack, by far. People go for 2 usually, but to me 3 just tops by far. I love every tune in this game, they're all catchy and it has its own distinct feel from the second game. It never fails to put a smile on my face even when im feeling down. Just a stoned nerds thoughts... Simply put this is one of the best video game soundtracks of all time. I almost consider it on par with YMO's work, particularly in comparing the consistent strength of the strong synth pop 80s melodies from start to finish. Like, listening to these old OSTs as "albums" the consistency of the work is what is really amazing, I think the only other NES soundtrack that really carries that strong from start to finish, in terms of melodic structure, is Skate Or Die. If I had to pick one song off the album only, which is really hard, I might pick Wily's Castle 2... but my favorite cover off this album is not brentalfloss's MM w/ Lyrics, but The Advantage's version of Flash Man.

But sadly I don't have plans to upload 16-Bit soundtracks, as I have nothing new to offer in how they sound, as SNES/Genesis are technically already are in Stereo, I just have no way to make them sound more clear and crisp like 8Bit music here. When playing the game, the MM2 intro with the rising sky scraper is awesome, but I always loved the simple titles screen with the amazing opening song to MM3.

Megaman 3 had the best OST, in my opinion. The song's composition are so thoughtful and totally appropriate for each situation, and honestly I feel it's the most masterfully composed soundtrack from the 8bit Megamans. I've yet to play Megamans 5 and 6 though, so maybe one of those will blow me away.

Kinda interesting how Capcom went ahead and made the eight greatest robot master themes in existence and then went ahead and put them all in one game for us. What a solid fucking soundtrack, even for Mega Man.
