Old Mumbai:-
Mumbai (formerly called Bombay) is a densely populated city on India’s west coast. A financial center, it's India's largest city. On the Mumbai Harbour waterfront stands the iconic Gateway of India stone arch, built by the British Raj in 1924. Offshore, nearby Elephanta Island holds ancient cave temples dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva. The city's also famous as the heart of the Bollywood film industry.
Area: 603.4 km², Population: 1.84 crores (2011)
The present-day city was built on what was originally an archipelago of seven islands of Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Worli, and Old Woman's Island (also known as Little Colaba). The islands were coalesced into a single landmass by the Hornby Vellard engineering project in 1784.

THANK YOU FOR THE BEAUTIFUL PICTURES OF MUMBAI, during the 1800 to 1905. They have refreshed THE SWEET MEMORIES OF MY CHILDHOOD SND YOUTH, that I had spent in BANDRA , often travelling by the BEST BUSES AND LOCAL TRAINS, from the age of 11 years all around Mumbai (Bombay). It was such a beautiful city to live in. Presently, it will be very dangerous to send a child of 11 years even across the streets. And even for an adult to board a Local train in Mumbai. One of the photos, that is of the Southern bridge of Dadar Railway Station Linking the Western Railway platform No. 1 to the Central Railway is still the same, except the shop.

In one photo of transportation ( bullock Cart ) it says photo of 1900's but a black fiat perhaps is seen which was launched in 1964-65. Secondly 1800 means 1700-1800 and 1900 means 1800-1900. So some corrections are required for sure. Gateway of India was ready in Dec 1911 and so it can't be shown as 1900's. Some one correct me if I am wrong.
