I am about to sew a pattern, that has all the same pieces for a boat neck shirt. Thank you for demonstrating all the steps for adding the facing! You may not know it's happening, but shortly, you will be my Sew A-Long buddy!

This was awesome! ALL of the steps were presented; not just talked about with being told "how" to do it but the step is actually DONE so we can see what you talk about. Thank you very much!

Great tutorial. Could I use this method for facings using a cotton Jersey material.
@melaniecarrico4 жыл бұрын
Gloria, You could use this for cotton jersey although often knits are finished differently to take advantage of the stretch. But if you do not need the opening you are facing to stretch, this method should work the same as on a woven.

Fabulous! This is just how my mother and my home ec teacher taught me. I recently saw a video where a lady stay stitched in one fell swoop all the way around. What a shock! Do you ever tack down the bottoms of your facing to the garment? Sometimes I have trouble with knits and I don't know why. Thank you so much!
@melaniecarrico4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I will do one fell swoop sometimes, especially if I've already staystitched, etc. But regarding tacking down, I usually only tack at seam allowances if I tack at all.
@WoodlandPoetry4 жыл бұрын
@@melaniecarrico Thank you - good to know. I was talking about staystitching when I said "in one fell swoop". Wouldn't that possibly stretch one side of the neckline and defeat the purpose? I am so happy I found your channel! Can't wait to see what other goodies you have.😊👍💮

@@WoodlandPoetry oh yes, staystitching needs to be directional. The facings joining to the bodice can be in one fell swoop :)

Would these rules still apply if the top is gathered?
@melaniecarrico12176 жыл бұрын
I would default to doing it this way initially, Denise. Always test a sample :) And see my "lapped zipper with facing" video to see how the ends should be finished at CB for a clean look.
