This is the best bias binding tutorial on KZbin! Using a contrast color really makes it pop, and you went slow enough that I can see the steps and the camera angles were really good. It’s frustrating when you see one of those tutorials where the person‘s hand is in the way the whole time LOL. Thank you so much for this great resource!

Thank you Liesl! An excellent teacher -- does not mince words, does not over-explain or complicate steps, exceedingly clear, nimble fingered and visible in example, neutral and informative, answers questions before i even have them. I'll share these with my community of sewers who have always sewn but been intimidated to try patterns and "official" techniques! Illuminating new tools!

Superb tutorial. Thank you. I am very impressed with the camera work, the editing, and the sound. Very professional. Clearly, Ms. Gibson has a ton of patience. It helps to have slender, pointed fingers to do this detail work. My construction hands make it more daunting. I had heard people claim to make their own bias tape, but this is the first time I've seen it done. The little tool to prevent finger scorch is interesting if you can get the hang of it. I guess practice makes perfect. I look forward to learning more.

Hello, Just wanted to thank you for this wonderfully well shot video. You've covered every detail needed to help us here. You voice and overall demeanure (I think that's the right word - French lady here) has brought calm. Just for that alone ty. Your efforts and time shooting and posting this is very generous. Great tutorial, I've watched many bias binding videos. However, yours seem to more simplex and detailed. Mostly everyone tries to go so fast and not really explain what is being done to brain the objective. 👍 Thanks for sharing.

You could use the 45 degree angles marked on your mat. There are several.
@gillianbc4 жыл бұрын
That's now how you use a bias tape maker, creeping along an inch at a time. They are really fast and accurate when used properly. You need to put a little bit of tension on the back end of the fabric e.g put it under a weight. You can then pull through a foot or more at a time, perfectly folded and iron it.

My fabric has open, embroidered flowers on it, and I’m having trouble with the bias binding. I think it may be due to the flowers having no give. I’m at my wits end trying to make this work.

Can you please make a video (not even sure if this is a possible technique because I'm new to sewing) on how to finish a decorative pillow or the last part of a blanket without the stitches showing. I tried to make a blanket for my son with two different prints of fabric (one on top, one on bottom) but when I got to the last corner, I didn't know how to finish that last inch with my machine without showing the stitches and the hem allowance..

So, to get the Bias.. You say the selvage edge is the Vertical Thread.. I'm a bit confused, You mentioned that you clipped a tread and pulled it out to know that you've got it laid out correctly ? I'm new to this. Also this video is made in 2014, So I'm just winging this comment, to see or not to see ~ A response . Lol... Okay... 3.2.1... Nothing, Awe too bad for me.
