Yes I remember it all, a good day out catch the ferry from Liverpool. When I look at New Brighton now it isn't even a shadow of it's former self sadly.

I was born in 1965, I'm from/in Liverpool ... my Mum had two sisters-aunties who married over in Wallasey and Birkenhead, I remember those blue and cream buses. Sadly I can not remember New Brighton in the days you have shown, I only have memories of the early 1970s and beyond.

A time I well remember my Father and brother went up on the cable cart while I remained with my mother and looked at the fun fair, New Brighton is just a passing point now in 2024

Hello, I work for a tv company who would really love to use these photos in a series and I was wondering if there's anyway to get in contact with you? Many thanks

These photos are actually quite stunning, it’s nice to see a more idyllic new Brighton, a contrast to the 80s with photos by Tom Wood showing thatcher era decay. Do you have any more photos and do you ever exhibit?

Home town is not the same sadly, we had it all back then but bit by bit it was taken away & now we hardly have anything like it was. They even tried gentrification but what they have rebuilt isn't even halfway as good as back then. I remember the Lido, outdoor swimming pools we had one in New Brighton and one in Hoylake but both gone now. Who doesn't love a bag of chips on the promenade? Funny how us Scousers would get the ferry over to Liverpool for a day out & all the Liverpudlians would be coming over to our neck of the woods & have a great day out too. I remember seeing a video of how it was in the Victorian era & it was at its best then, there was even a 🗼 tower like Blackpool but it eroded away because they used cheeper materials, bloody cheap skates that would be a sight to see now if it was still standing.

Lots of terrific memories here, but why did you use that horrible soundtrack, when there are thousands of great 60's songs you could have chosen?? Ferry cross the mersey or The Lettermen Theme from a summer pace would both have been perfect!
