Love your plans! I’m looking forward to see the finished result of my grandmothers old house🙂 Good Luck renovating. The large mountain you can see in the middle of your view is Hornelen, the highest seacliff in Northern Europe, an exciting hike up to 860 meter.

So fun you are watching this! It will look completely different in a year :). Yes, we plan on hiking it this summer :D!

You seem to conform with the (mistaken/misunderstood/ignorant) claim that Hornelen is a sea cliff ("seacliff" is not correct English) .....even call it "the highest" has nothing with reality to do. Hornelen is carved out like it's surroundings - by glaciers. On the other hand is a sea cliff formed by erosion caused by the waves coming in from the ocean. Hornelen are located well inside the fjords ....on the east side of the island of Bremangerlandet ..... hence away from the open sea. The peak of Hornelen at 860 meter above sea level is located 500 horisontal meters in from the shore (where land meets sea). It is the peak/top part of the mountain that has a vertical rock face. So the average angle of inclination is not remarkable in any shape or form compared with tons of other places in Norway ..... neither the total height or the vertical part would show up on any list of the highest vertical rock faces / cliffs in Norway (it will not even be remotely close ). The highest vertical rock face in Norway is Trollveggen with 1000 meter. It is part of a mountain side that starts in Romsdalen a few meters above sea level and goes up to 1797 meter. The other vertical rock face/cliff (that one also nearly 1000 meter high) which I would mention is Kjerag in Lysefjorden. That rock face actually ends in the sea (fjord) and dwarfs Hornelen. Both these place are internationally famous for BASE jumping. Some additional info: The highest mountain on an island in Norway (Svalbard not included) is Langlitinden (1276 meter) on Andørja. The highest mountains along Norways coast, with close proximity to the open ocean are to be found in Lyngen which is peaking at 1834 meter. I think Hornelen can live very well without these wrong/ignorant labels. Just let it be a landmark and a beautiful piece of nature...... Please don't come with something named Wikipedia ....they don't have a clue.....as so often.....

Happy to see you back with a new video - and what a video; A full 30 minutes! And as far as wi-fi vs cellphone data goes, we too know what you have had to struggle with. Even in a suburb of Bergen, we have had to make do with a 4G data subscription for several years, while hoping and waiting for a cabled connection.

Very nice house with a wonderful view. Great to see another video. The entrance area is called "vindfang" in Norwegian, which translates to "wind catcher". Nice buffer zone from the outdoor climate. Sounds like you have lots of plans. A house is a never ending project. I hope you're not trying to do all at once, it's satisfying to see the end of smaller projects :-) Wishing you the best of luck! Enjoy your new life.

Ohhh, these landscapes are surreal and sooo beautiful ! The warning about dark winter reminds me of Iceland and all the warnings we receive when moving here, but somehow it looks less hard in Norway with all these beautiful trees and shiny forests! You've experienced both (if I am not mistaken), how different do you feel it is? So much looking forward to seeing your house all finished and designed! It will look amazing for sure!

Hello. What a wonderful nature! I think there is always snow and it's cold but beautiful. No internet at home? That's why you don't upload videos. The house is very natural. I guess not every room in the house gets warmer. Isn't it a little cold? Thanks for this nice video. I'm waiting for new videos about nature. See you.

Hei igjen.

I love your cabin. I just wonder, what jobs people do in those small villages in Norway,. If you do not work online, is it hard to find any job there?
@EllenWild
@EllenWild 2 жыл бұрын
In the villages around us, you find every aspect of a functioning society, so there are actually jobs in every field. But they do indeed need less people. The mindset here is also more of 'having a job that is needed and available' :).

It's unsafe to break down the walls in the house, because it's can damage whole construction support of house, so the house could fall. It's better to keep the walls as it is, it's also make unique the way that ancient houses were originally built.
@EllenWild
@EllenWild 3 жыл бұрын
We know about these carrying walls :). We are putting beams instead to keep it safe! We also try to keep some old elements of the house, you are right that this makes it unique ^^.

@@EllenWild don't you know the story about the three little pigs? One made its house of straw the other stick and the other brick. Your own's wood, which is the stick so that means it is half way strong.

4G is, in its design, a data network. The phone-feature is a kind of add an. I think the data rate is 300 MBit/s (down). Mobile phones use the 4G network and the standard SIM-card and SMS/MMS features as basis. Extra data traffic (internet use) is relative expensive - from my impression. Mobile internet use the 4G network, where you have a SIM-card in mini router with WiFi feature, but no phone# and SMS/MMS. OneCall is using a mini router, whereas Telenor also insists on an oudoor antenna. It may be that Telenor insists on that due to speed guarantees. I have tested 4G speed by connectiong my PC to my mobile, first via the USB, and then via the WiFi, and wondered why I would ever need any other type internet access. But I have a simple mobile subscription, so I stick to my ordinary ground based internet for some months more.
