I agree. The white paint around the windows in the bathroom, makes for a lovely contrast and they are not too overpowering. If they get painted black, then too much black makes the room too "Depressing" which you do not need during the winter!!! Especially when there is no sun in the winter.

As an Australian, who spent a year in Norway as an exchange student, I can‘t work out how you can keep your houses looking so tidy and immaculate 🤔 In my house, half the kitchen table and the coffee table are filled with clutter that I don‘t know what to do with 😏 In Norway, people just seem to know how to make their houses look so beautiful 😃

Having a good storage system for clothing, electronic extras, and various supplies make a big difference, not keeping things you don't "need" clutter wise, ie; if you don't use it or there's no sentimental value, why keep it? I don't live in Norway but I'm a big fan of not having "stuff" sitting around, so I use the concept of "Don't just put it down, put it away", so things just stay much cleaner overall. Once a year or every 6 months a nice "declutter" is really good too!

It's not just Norway it's just about having a habit of cleaning things up. I'm from New Zealand and believe our home is presentable for ourselves... Clean energy is always good energy. You know that feeling you get when you clean up a room and it just feels so welcoming and rewarding. Imagine feeling that everyday.

I remember an Oprah episode once where she said if you haven't used something or worn something for 6 months throw it out . also everytime you buy a new piece of clothing get rid of an old piece. I have to say by roughly sticking to this I have so much more space and less clutter . so glad to see my ice cream maker go which I never used closely followed by the bread maker !!!

Actually my home when I was a teenager was similar to this - with steps up to the living room from the kitchen which was on the lower level along with the bedrooms and the bathroom. Like your cabin the old house stopped at a certain point, but when the living room was added on, they built a 2 car garage underneath the living room, so it became a "split level" house. It had not originally been built that way.

Cecilia - you guys have so nailed this. One thing to consider is the microwave and the gaps around it, they generate a lot of heat at the back so make sure the ventilation is good

Many people love using a microwave intensely. A person just has to be careful that there is enough ventilation around the sides of the device.

Oh my goodness! Such a beautiful place! I love everything, especially the “ gallery wall” of windows in the kitchen, and throughout. The deck, where you can see polar bears in the evening. And when you get water for shower, kitchen, it will be perfect! I am so envious! Your home is so beautiful! I can't believe it's been five months already since the build has started and now it's finished, it's amazing how the time flew by! I can only imagine how challenging it must have been throughout the process when you were living in this space at the same time, but it was so worth it. For what it’s worth, you unintentionally have the layout my house has on purpose. My bedroom is close to the kitchen and a bathroom. It’s really convenient to have that way as you’re starting and ending your day. Plus, it’s just the two of you most of the time so it’s not like privacy is a problem. It’s also nice having the guest bedroom on the other side of the house because it gives everyone privacy and is quieter for everyone. Your home is beautiful!

You should take a summer photo out of that bathroom portal window oveerlooking the green hill in the background, print it on glass and mount it in the window during the winter so when the winter scene shines thru, you'll see the summer view. I was so excited to see the bathroom! It's really the only room you haven't show the progress of in your stories. And it's.....beautiful! I personally love the contrast of the white frame windows with the dark dark walls and floor. It really highlights everything and gives the room a bit more dimension. The addition to the house is spectacular. I love the windows in the kitchen and the newly decorated living room. Love the windows and view from both those areas. The bathroom looks great the way it is. No need to make changes in it. The new bedroom is perfect. Your work area, the TV room, walk in closest and Christoffer’s wardrobe area are perfect. It turned out so good! It has been so much fun to learn and watch the construction progress! It is so fresh and bright - a very happy, modern space. The exterior doors are gorgeous - are the doors and windows polar bear resistant? I would love to see more homes and their owners on Svalbard. It’s so interesting to see where and how people live there.

Happy for you both that you love the new addition and remodel. The stove/oven is truly beautiful, and your views are extraordinary. The silestone is gorgeous, but I've seen hundreds of bad reviews about how difficult it is to care for, how easily it is stained, even by water, even though it's supposed to be stain resistant, how it can crack and that the manufacturer does not back up the warranty. However, aesthetically, it is sleek and chic. Your architect seems to have done a very good job. I will admit that the one thing I miss from your original home is how gorgeous the wood flooring was. It makes sense why Grim doesn't feel safe walking on the new flooring. He must feel like his paws/claws are going to slip with every step. The butterfly chairs are so comfortable, too, and have adored them since my older sister had one when I was a child. Trust your knowledge of English. "Adamant" was the correct word and you were using it in the correct manner.

🤩 So far we haven't had any issues with silestone thankfully. We actually drew up the extension and designed everything ourselves, the arcitecht just made it into proper drawings :) I really did not like the old floor at all haha, and Grim thought it was even more slippery :) Thank you for watching 😊😊

Black window frames in the bath would be too dark I reckon. I vote for them to stay white. You should consider switching the bed to the opposite wall to enjoy the views while laying in bed. Fantastic project! You truly did a wonderful job designing it all.

I love the framing of your bathroom windows - the small one and the panoramic view. I'd be tempted to spend all day in there. The bigger windows are nice, but there's so much to absorb - the panorama is perfect and the small one frames the mountains perfectly. Beautifully done - love it!!!

I love Grim!! My dogs root around in the sofa and kick all of the pillows off. Then they drag their blankets up there and take naps with us. So cozy!!!
