I worked on sooooo many of those back in the day. Great cars, not fast but great cruiser once up to speed. All AC were aftermarket from the 80 on down. Used GM units mostly.

Reading the comments, there are a lot of people suggesting buying the Mercedes. Myself included. Parts may be harder to find, I enjoy seeing you working on the older cars. There is usually more room in the engine compartment. Your eyes just lit up when you saw the old girl.

Buy it ! A /8 is a great car. I once had the 250 inline six. Great Motor if it runs. You woll replace plugs with every oilchange to keep it running good. And expect a range of 150 Miles on a full tank if you give her the beans.

Same engine family as your 280SE this has carbs that were easily rebuilt with new gaskets, a good cleaning and replacement of accelerator pumps. If there is no blow by or water mixing with oil it’s a great car. These were prone to rust damage on the frame rails and quarter panels.
