Mike please give the SEL another lease on life! She’s perfect for the channel and sounds like she runs so so well. It honestly runs better than others I’ve seen with 1/5 the miles! Apart from the few cosmetic issues she’s in great shape for 306k. It looks like I’m not the only one in the comments who wants to see you pick her up

That W126 S class is from the era when Mercedes made the best cars in the world. Unfortunately that was a long time ago and that is definitely not the case anymore. They were great cars with exceptional build quality. You should bid on it.

Been a fan of the Benz W126's since l was a kid and saw Dan Aykroyd's character driving one in The Great Outdoors. That one was a 560 but close enough. lol. Built to last a lifetime back then. These cars need to be preserved!

I think a Ranger (not even saying this particular featured one) with a V6 to let ya tow a bit would be PERFECT for you. Get one with a manual and no transmission worries and you're golden to tow some, haul parts, etc. My buddy's g/f at the time years back had one we'd use for heavier parts/assemblies and it was golden. Never let us down. Just a good smaller truck and I think for you and your needs would be perfect Mike! I'll also chime in on Interstate batteries, worth the $. A little pricey sure but if ya don't wanna deal with low quality battery BS they are worth every penny! I bought a used car (7 years old at the time) with an Interstate already in it, lasted ME 8 years and no idea how old it was when I got it. Can't say a bad word about them AT ALL! The coffee cup icon means attention assist is on. It detects when your drowsy while the assist is turned on. So basically yes,you need a cup of coffee 😂

Hey Mike That W126 420SEL is one bad ass ride you should bid on it. It reminds me of my mom's car she got it in 87 and had it till 97 but sad thing is someone stole it. It was a really nice Mercedes-Benz. I been looking for a good shape W126 like the 300SD or 300SDL. But keep up the great content.

The seats in the Benz are also dynamic and massage seats. The bolstering moves as you turn through curves and corners. The coffee cup symbol is for a feature on the car that detects when you’re tired. When it does it signals you that you seem tired and that maybe you need to stop for a cup of coffee. It’s a great feature but it’s sometimes annoying. I have it on my E350 Bluetec circa 2011. Take care and make a separate channel for the bikes! My 2 cents! 👊🏾

The Coffee light belongs to the Attention Assist System, which detects low attention of the driver. You can adjust the sensitivity or turn the system off. The 420SEL is the winner here, no doubt about it. 🤘

I don't see what the hell that W126 is doing in a scrap yard. Only thing that would concern me is why the damage to the windshield? If the hood damage that forced the corner into the windshield resulted from a crash there could be hidden issues lurking beneath in terms of body work. Hard to see how though given how decent the grille and fenders are. So it's a mystery so far. So I would say, HELL YES get it. The W126 is the epitome of the S-Class in my opinion. And that seems mechanically in incredible shape, especially for the miles.

Save it! Mercedes branded coolant hoses, I saw. Someone must have dealer serviced it or took it to a good Indy. Didn’t hear any chain slap/drag/etc. go for it!

The newer Mercs will probably be more economical, but you know you will get there in the SEL, parts are still available, and I had a 500 SEL with over 700,000 miles on her, and she still was reliable. Treat yourself Mike, just imagine that wafting along effortlessly with plenty of power and in comfort when you fix, or replace those seats. Saying that you do have the Wagon.

Perfect description I never had mine over 100 mph But it got there so effortlessly It was incredible Coming east out of Showlow az There are some long hills that the other cars would lose speed before cresting I could hold 90 without adding gas Never owned another car that would do that

Hi Mike, stay away from the Ranger, weak engine to tow anything + poor mpg, and with that rattle it could be easily a cylinder head issue and and/or bad compression (share same problem with Mazda). The 420SEL tho

On the ranger: if it’s like an f150 there is a torx bit bolt under the dash on the shifter linkage that gets loose and it won’t show all the way in park. It can also get loose on the selector under the truck too.

My company ran rangers until ford discontinued them. We didn’t consider them used until they had 200k miles on them. We usually got 300k miles before we traded them in.

Get the 300K Merc. The hood was prob. done in by a basketball bouncing off a backboard. Get a PDR estimate to repair it. I'd love to see that. Probably cheaper than a repaint on a salvage yard hood. I love the 2 door Merc too. Glad it's you having to decide and not me. :)

My kia ev6 has the coffee thing. It's an attention thing. The car detects irregularities in driving and suggests s coffee break. 2020 Turbo Soul had it to. It's annoying
