Happy 15th Anniversary to Wii, one of my favorite consoles! This is an amazing and well detailed documentary Luna, I applaud you for all the hard work you did! Thank you for giving all of us more of an insight into the Wii's online scene and all the obscure channels that not all would have known they all existed. I myself never used the online capabilities while the service was still live, but through homebrew and amazing people and their services, I was able to use the Forecast Channel, News Channel, Mii Contest Channel and Nintendo Channel for the first time. I also tried out Wii no Ma, where strangely I never had any problems with (I have a PAL Wii, which is known for its problems) and the Digicam Print Channel. I have a lot of nostalgia for the Wii, and this video has only reignited my motivation to play with it and enjoy all of the channels. I also recently got a nunchuk so I can finally play Mario Kart Wii without falling off all the time haha

Wish I could make videos like this but even more happy to see someone made it. The Wii was a key and cornerstone console during my teenage years. MKW, Brawl, PBR and so many more. The only thing I wish I could have experienced now is use a Japanese Wii with all the exclusive channels wii never got. I will cherish those days always, I was also one of those who hack there Wii back then and was hosting fun room with the likes of MrBean35000VR. Now I use it mostly for emulation and wanting movies/anime on my TV via hard drive. Honestly there's so much more I could say but i'd just be rambling. I hope my(16years old) and everyones Wii keep working for decades to come.

I'm glad the effort to continue preserving the wii is alive and well. I checked in on progress since this video and I was amazed. Everyone's done an amazing job reviving the wii, and I'm sure it isn't stopping soon. What a wonderful community this cute little console formed

Unfortunately that’s just a product of late-stage capitalism. You can see it with the other two current consoles too. They don’t really have that warm aesthetic that earlier consoles had to bank on. It’s a stark contrast to how the Wii used its motion control gimmick and sleek aesthetic to pull people in.

Back in the early to late 2000's most people weren't fully yet acquainted with technology, both in ui and its capabilities, as such, companies would take the same approach the wii and pre ios7 took and went for a more realistic approach on the way software was interpreted, e.g. the large amounts of detail present in the app icons or the rich and accessible home screen the wii had, with that being all a effort to help older people understand and relate physical tools to digital counterparts, as a result, combined with the wii's accessible motion controls and its secondary role as a smart device allowed for it a much wider userbase, the same can be said for the ds, this type of ui design is a smaller branch of a more generalized graphic aesthetic called fruitger aero. Over time, as people began getting used too the transition between physical and digital, ui began to do the same, searching for minimalism and efficiency rather than personality, depth and accessibily, this can be observed when looking at modern ios and android alongside the switch ui, which is by far the most shallow, uncreative and boring design i have seen in any device.
