Great pictures! Used to love doing Portsmouth - Cherbourg and back again as a day trip. Outward bound on Pride of Hampshire and back on the Portsmouth Express.

thanks , yes I did a trip to Cherbourg on the last ferry P&O had on that route the Pride of Cherbourg that ferry is in New Zealand now . Cherbourg is or was a good place for a day trip . I liked the submarine museum , with the old decommissioned French nuclear powered submarine.

Thanks for this great video, including the great former OLAU BRITANNIA. So sad that the route Vlissingen - Sheerness closed in 1994.

They where a bit unique with the front outside deck space which we do not have with any ferry these days .

You missed the pride of Winchester, smaller viking, it had the best engines out of the four, 2 jumbosized 2 not Made cherboug to portsmouth in 3 hours 20minutes once as was running late and had an top speed of 33knots.

Yes I remember a nice looking ship, had been on the Pride of Winchester when it was on Dover -Calais route for a short while. I believe I could not find any descent pictures of her so did not include picture of the ship. It was an era prior to digital cameras . All or most of the pictures in this presentation are of scanned slides I took in those days.
