My grandparents share a Facebook. My 77-year-old grandmother is very tech savvy (as in, knows-how-to-code savvy), while my grandfather is .... not so much. So until Facebook introduced the feature where you could mute certain people's feeds, my timeline would periodically fill up with random conspiracy articles, and then suddenly they would all * disappear * and be replaced with recipes and crafting tips, and that was how you knew my grandmother had logged in and deleted my grandfather's activity 😂

Regarding the Grandpa saying "OK" to the newborn, I have a story: When my dad told my great-grandma that my mom was pregnant, she just looked him straight in the eye and said: "And you are proud of that? Every idiot can get a girl pregnant." Old people are just wired differently.

I have a sorta similar story, I [2 years old at the time] remember being in the delivery room with my mom as she was giving birth to my brother. And it's only natural that you can't control your bladder or bowels when giving birth, and so my mom poo'd a bit. And I, being a 2 year old with no filter and no sense of how loud I could speak announced to everybody "EW MOMMY POOPED." and my dad goes, "Go wait outside with Grandpa." And then I don't remember anything after that.

My favorite one liner from my grandpa came when he was really starting to have issues with dementia. We had taken him out to dinner for his birthday and my grandmother was ranting about the seating and placement of everything. She carried on making a scene for about 10 minutes before finally looking at my grandfather- who'd been completely tuning her out- and said to him "Right, Tony?". My grandpa looked her dead in the eye, straight-faced, and said "yknow, there's room for you in the trunk". Everyone who heard him was in tears laughing. I made some artwork for my dad's birthday and because my grandpa had no idea how Facebook works he just assumed the art was for him... even though it was nowhere near his birthday and I addressed my dad in the post itself. I'm not sure how to explain the concept of like, a dashboard or a wall to somebody who has no concept of it. Anyway, he's since deleted his Facebook. I would too if it wasn't the only social media some of my friends have.

I love this becaus it reminds me of my nana who passed away (sorry im 41 and now for some reason cant help but let others know about someone who has died lol). Whenever I showed her a funny picture or video she would always say things like 'who's that? Do you know them? If you dont know them how can you see their videos? You shouldnt be talking to strangers, aren't you worried they can see you in your phone'
