The British Railway Firms built Ireland a World Class Railway, it was never seen as a Railway that could carry freight and this is the result. We closed so many lines in England and we regret this act of short sightedness as now the tracks and Beds have been built on and many will never reopen

Fantastic footage such beautiful bridges and engineering. What a shame to see this railway line closed government really needs to open more of our closed railway lines take more traffic of our roads....just look at the reopening of the Limerick to foynes railway...come on the Irish government open more of our railway lines...

Lovely footage. Hopefully the railway will reopen for trains as the ports of Waterford and Rosslare would benefit from it, especially when the land bridge through Britain is so problematic

@@Ceiteach.O.Duibhir irish rail ceo says plans for the barrow bridge repair (the biggest problem) are ready to go, just waiting for the insurance company of the boat company that hit it to pay up, going to to be automated from the new train control centre

Likely to re-open real soon, hopefully. No major work to do like on the other lines planned for re-opening, such as Athenry to Collooney or Limerick to Foynes.

Theres 13 crossings gates, mostly all jointed rail so it needs to be all be replaced with cwr, and theres the 117 year old barrow bridge which needs repairs badly, plus theres signalling to sort out, theres a lot of work​@markolysynchuk5264
