Great job guys the doors looking great why didn’t you have the doors dipped was it because they are old and the joints might of opened up. Great to see most of the old features coming back take care guys

Lovely old doors. I read that it's not recommended to use a heat gun when stripping old paint as there's a good chance of lead being present. Would you have to test for it beforehand, or just assume that because of the age of the door it most likely contains lead?

Medium heat (400-600F) is still okay to remove lead paint w/o volatilizing the lead in old paint. The orbital sanding they due w/o HEPA vac and respirators is more dangerous.

I've felt the same pain as Mark for the last couple of months. Painstakingly stripping off years of old paint from 100+ year old door frames and doors and sanding them down to make them look as good as new.
