So much attention to detail and taking pride in your work really makes the difference in making just a common tool into something beautiful.

This old gun definitely needed some replacement parts. It's best to keep these old things in a cold, dry place.

As a Chemist, at 1:16 in the vid, caustic soda ( NaOH ) is used probably as an ELECTROLYTE. While it works TSP ( Trisodium Phoslhate Na3PO4 ) might be better. The electrolysis puts the Fe+2 and Fe+3 from the Rust ( FeO and Fe3O4 ) jnto solution. Rust is negligibly water soluable. TSP is an electrolyte and very soluable. Any Iron ions in ths bath IMMEDIATELY react with PHOSPHATE in the solution to form Iron Phosphates [ Fe3(PO4)2 and Fe(PO4) ] which is many, many billions of orders of magnitude LESS soluable which does an excellent job of DERUSTING !

The first ten minutes is a different weapon than the later video. At the beginning, severe deep corrosion and visible loss of material can be seen. Later the black finish is almost perfect and all the parts match.

It is a totally different revolver even a different model, the first one is a top break smith and Wesson style but the later gun is something similar to an old bulldog

Welding tools weren't used for this kind of work since this old revolver has the most amount of rust pockets. It's going to be hard to distinguish the old guns from the new guns. 🔫

The first one is a model 1 smith & wesson, the first revolver they made themselves. Very cool

The first revolver isn’t a model 1,2, or 3. I dunno which model of weapon it really is but I know for a fact it isn’t a Smith & Wesson. model 1

Where did you get all those filthy, rusty revolvers? Looks like they came out of a ditch lake (known place where people throw their weapons after a crime has been committed using them). Curious if any were used in the commitment of a crime :)

MC51 rust remover could've been used for this kind of work. It would simply do the trick. Also, using nickel plating solution.
