Yesterday, Wednesday, 11/18/15, The Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome's Spirit of St. Louis reproduction was rolled out of its hangar and the Wright J-5 engine was started for the first time in several years. Since it had last been run, the aircraft has been completed (minus a few minor details, which will be finished over the winter), and is now ready to fly. Congratulations to Ken Cassens, and all of the volunteers and donors over the years who made this project possible, and thanks to the late Cole Palen, whose vision it was to have a reproduction of Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis at Old Rhinebeck.
