Old Schindler elevator

This is a tipical italian elevator made by Schindler in 1975

You would have thought there would be a window in the lift car to see the view. Bit of a waste of having the shaft exposed. Really cool video though, don't see this type of thing in the UK.

Surprised it's not retrofitted with a glass back panel. Why is it that Europe has such tiny elevators? I always wondered that....

it is traction! the machineroom is at the top. the cables under the elevator are for providing electricity to the cab.

That elevator looks very good from the outside, but the cabin is lousy. To bad there isnt a panorama window. And i dont like inner doors on this kind of elevators.

What a stupid design! Open outdoor shaft and solid-walled car. Windows in the outer doors but the inner gates are solid. Very ugly elevator, could be made very beautiful very cheaply. What were they thinking? Or WERE they thinking?
