Awesome build. The true inception of RC rock crawling.

Thank you. I was never a great crawler but it sure looked great out there and it was really cool to build something like that out of nothing but a pair of clod axles and random parts and materials. It is one I will always keep just the way it is, a little time capsule of the RC timeline!

relatively new into the crawler hobby, i find it immensely fascinating to look at these old crawlers

They still make similar style ones honestly. The extreme class type crawlers and some entry level crawler still have long travel designs. However, they have much better geometry and perform way better! A budget one is the Redcat Everest 10. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment!

This thing is sweet. Would love to see you do a build today on your channel and improvise things. Like you did in the speed challenge. Let us in on some custom fabrication and build ideas and try things out different than just buying parts available. That is truly RC building. Not just assembly and parts swapping.

It does involve a lot of head scratching and making things up on the fly!. You can plan and plan for a build like these but 3 steps in and you have to throw most of out the window and start making things up as you go along! I have some ideas I would like to try but they are going to take some time and money to do so it may be a little bit before I get to working on them. I have a whole list of themed builds I would like to do as well. If I could just figure out a way to retire and still make the money I make now I think I can get them all done! LOL!!!

Thank you Tony! I have acquired a lot of the kits I drooled over as a kid and had no means to get. Now I am making up for lost time! I absolutely love building all of them and it has turned into my favorite part of the hobby!!

Dude, that's an AWESOME chassis!!!!!!!! A bit longer, shorter links & shocks, faster motors and you would have one hell of a race Clod!!!! I have a Novak Super Rooster esc in my race Clod spinning 2 Trinity 13x3 Speed Gems 2 motors (of course I had to spin the end-bell 180 for the rear motor). I need to see this on your track man, I know it's no speed truck but it would be cool to see. I could go on & on & on....

Thanks! This was built completely with the F around and find out way of building!!! This was back when you had to go to forums and dig around to see pics of what guys were doing and figure it out from there as nothing was really documented and everything was soo new I know they have wideners for the wheel hubs now so i had thought about getting a set and tossing some 4ws on it and making it more of a romp around truck as it such an outdated crawler and it was never a great one!! I really miss those old trinity motors and I really wish they would bring them back... they would make a fortune selling them!!! The locked diffs may be a challenge for running too fast but it would still be funny to see the bog ol thing lumbering around!

Wow, do you have a video of this beast?

Dude, I dunno how I’ve never seen this video. This thing is awesome.. very innovative
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this was at least 15 or so years ago when I built this. It was long before people were manufacturing too much stuff like this. It was still mostly garage hack stuff. It isn't great at anything but it is a really cool moment in the RC world where a whole new genre was blooming!! I made this one and one our of a HPI Wheely King. The WK was after this one and it works much better and that one has seen much more action!!

Very nice looking truck and job well done keep up the great work I really enjoy your video once again
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Fred, this was from way back in the day when crawling first became a thing and you had to coble together your own rigs from existing stuff. I guess we are still doing that now and probably always will. People are often stripping the best parts of various platforms and smashing them together for comp rigs!
@3dman8752 жыл бұрын
Back when I first started to do rc i was doing airplane you know that you have to build them then I want to boats then rc cars and trucks most of the rc trucks I buld are one off trucks I'm working on a Ford bronco hardbody with a full interior and eingen bay and opening hood and a 32 dodge panel van

I loved the video. Definitely liking the use what you got moto. I'm trying to piece together an attic find clodbuster. Do you have any idea where I can find reasonably priced used wheels and tires? I have absolutely no luck on Ebay or Facebook Marketplace
@AddamsPlayground2 жыл бұрын
For wheels I know Tower Hobbies has them in stock usually but the tires are much harder to find. I think eBay and aftermarket are gonna be your best bet. They are hard to find but I hope you find a set for your project!
