Is basically a remaster of B/X. They refined the language and layout so it’s easier to understand, filled in holes that the original had because it assumed you played games like Chainmail. They also added optional things like ascending armor class to make the game easier to get into from newer D&D versions. They changed very few things, all of which the author put into a document that maybe filled one page.

Damn would like to see more, a proper campaign would be great, at least I know why dianne from DND cartoon was so op. What I enjoyed was the fact death is a very real possibility, Also undead are such a massive threat aswell also poison actually does something.

So Lex is correct that it is just a change of layout and clarity for BX if you are not using the Advanced Fantasy rules. The Advanced Fantasy rules were Gavin's go at taking the races and classes from AD&D and converting them to BX. So for example the Acrobat, Duergar and the Drow are not in BX.

I run a couple 5e campaigns, and decided to use the Advanced Edition of OSE as a side game. When someone cancels and we can't run the normal campaign we play this. After only 3 sessions of OSE I think it's turned into the groups favorite game. You know a game is good when you find yourself chatting about the system, differences, and how fun it was a half hour or more after the game ends. Moldvay and Cook revised the OD&D (then Holmes) rules into what was my favorite edition. Gavin Norman then again revised them into something special.

Nice game. But Thaco is EASY! It's not totally your fault that you think it's hard because it's been taught wrong from the beginning. The ONLY thing you need to know is your Thaco (to hit ac 0) and what you rolled. For example: if you have a 19 Thaco and roll a 17 you hit an AC 2 (You're just noting the difference between your Thaco and what you rolled, in this case the difference is 2). If you have a Thaco of 15 and you roll an 18 you hit AC-3 (3 is the difference and negative because it's above your Thaco). This can easily be done in your head, no charts or formulas are needed.
