In this episode of Crime Stories we sat down with Bobby Cummines and his Paul Ferris - both were gangsters in the older days.
Bobby told us about his days as criminal in North London, whilst Paul shared stories of growing up in Glasgow and the crimes he would commit around Scotland.
Both of the men explained how they got into crime, what was prison like for them, what are the memories that haunt them but also the things they regret to this day.
00:00 - Intro
01:19 - Getting Into Crime
04:44 - Serious Crime
10:46 - Time In Prison
13:55 - Leaving Crime Behind
17:55 - Looking Back & Regrets
Thanks to Bobby and Paul for taking part!

Also, I did an OU degree in prison (I got a BSc in Criminology and psychology, funnily enough) and published in peer reviewed journals AND also with the OU on the subject of prison rehabilitation and desistance from crime. You're a good man from what I can see. I've watched you on some documentaries as well. We've all done bad shit but it's turning our lives around that counts. Great video.

I witnessed a few punch ups between Dads if there was bullying from their kids. EVERY kid had a mum and a dad because we lived together, as a community, to a degree. I left the UK in 2005. When i heard Pauls podcast with James English i was bit more enlightened to Paul, as all i heard was gangster this, machine guns, jail etc.. Very clever man, can tell the polis wouldnt like someone as clever and fly as him. They basically wanted to shoot him dead, hoping, just hoping Paul would have a weapon in his hand when they tried to set him up in Rothsea. Also for him to sayThe first millionaire pharmacy was Hoolihans in Possil because of the amount of methadone it sells, prescribes i should say. And Barlinnie prison is the biggest dispenser of methadone in the UK, that surprised me,but it took a long fucking time to happen. Even in the 2000 you were still shitting in a bucket, cons walking around like zombies,in full withdrawal because they gave you nothing, i mean nothing in a way of medication, even if you had a doctors prescripton every month, it meant nothing in Bar-L..Surprised no one had a fit and died coming of diazepam, maybe they did bbut the place was a disgrace until 1 good guy decided to sue the fucking place for breach of human rights, having no toilet in a cell of 2 people in the year 2000 was a disgrace..Anyway it took many many years before proper medication was given to cons, now the place is a bit more chilled, a lot less drugs in the place too.

Find it strange why Ferris never mentions his brother Billy who is currently serving life for murdering a 15 year old boy over a minor drug debt. He set fire to him to try conceal the murder. Ferris does not mention his heroin dealing days or when he conspired to supply a shotgun to police in Glasgow and was jailed for it. Find it hard to

Old times had more class and held each other to certain morals. Now it's just every man for himself absolutely brutal. I'm mostly talking about how things were in America with the Irish, Italian Mafia or the yacks of even the Asians gangs.

A murderer is a murderer, what are you chatting about "held each other to certain moral" ???? Both these people killed plenty of innocent people. Yes they've grown and know it's wrong now, but so will the current generation when they grow up.

Not really no. The dress style was different is all. All you need to do is look at the Krays and the Richardsons. The Krays were running around bullying people and noncing kids and the Richardsons were torturing people and pulling their teeth out and drowning them and stuff. m
