zercher squats, zercher deadlifts, zercher stiff legs, zercher jeffersons, straight arm and bent arm pullovers, one arm kettlebell snatches, dragon flags(bruce lee crunches) and neck bridges. I love sandbags which mimick old timey atlas stones just without rusty metal infections lol. Hindu pushups and frog squats which have been in india and asia for hundreds of years are also great.

3:22 I'm some one who can zercher squat more than I can bacl&front squat. More freedom to use the upper back (builds good mid traps too, like heavy heavy kettlebell swings)

I really enjoy zercher squats. I'm a noob and doing front squats for quads and zerchers after as a heavier movement involving other muscles. You said it before that it's actually provides some decent work for the lats and I have actually gotten lat pumps from zerchers in the past. I think it's just a time saver in that sense over back squats but isn't superior to back squats+more rows/pullups for overall development, just saves a bit of time by getting some extra lat and trap work in. I haven't bothered with power shrugs or anything bc my conventional deadlift isn't up to snuff yet to bother with them but I think adding zerchers definitely has some benefit for the upper traps in a program which doesn't include some kind of dedicated trap movement.

I started running it recently and it feels really good. Core, chest, arms,shoulders glutes. I love it

I'm a huge fan of the Hackenschmidt squat. I started doing it because I hurt my back a while back and this is one of the quad exercises I can do that absolutely blasts my quads, but doesn't require me to use a lot of weight. I hit 155 on it recently and I'd like to go for Hackenschmidt's record of 185 someday lol. Absolutely brutal lift, but it's fun because it feels like I'm doing something pretty athletic.

Hey man, could you know to clarify something for me about the hack squat. Are you supposed to stay on your toes throughout the movement. or is it like a deep knee bend where you lock out flat footed. And also, are you supposed to flare your knees out or keep them parallel
@skillzilla1116 ай бұрын
I bought your book, but could you clarify, on the side pullovers, are you supposed to go behind your head or over your head. Or are they just different variations
@atlaspowershrugged6 ай бұрын
I typically go straight over my head, but do whatever you feel most tension and stretch.

I love the channel and the IDEA of these exercises, but in practice anyone with access to more than a barbell will find most of them D tier compared to all the modern options. There are reasons they've been abandoned while other barbell exercises like the Big 3 are still beloved. But before you cast me back into the pits of /fit/, I'm commenting to agree the Jefferson Curl does deserve its S Tier and you deserve credit for re-introducing it to people. And the primary reason it deserves the spot is because there IS no modern substitute. There's no machine that replicates its effect. As Bret Contreras is the Glute Guy, so too I dub thee the Jefferson Jentleman.

Mr. Ward, I'm surprised you don't favor some esoteric 15th century lift cribbed, perhaps, from the pages of Boethius.
