Proper Northern Soul Dancer….some on here look like demented Dervishers or like the old skinheads stomping. Others wear a vest, vintage Oxford bags, bowling shoes and stick a bar towel in their belt and just do a basic box step while flailing their arms about. Thank God this guy still reminds us of how it should be done. In sync, understated, smooth, stylish….like all top class athletes and performers you should always play within yourself. #ifyouknowyouknow.

This is a proper choreographed form and it's a challenge to make it look this smooth and easy. Certain celebrated younger Northern Soul-ettes (who shall remain nameless), favour a style that looks kind of laboured and unnatural while seeming to think that the backwards hand-spring is the holy grail of NS.

I'm totally new to this style of dancing. It's fascinating - there's such freedom of expression and it looks so joyous. I can't work out the steps, I've noticed that a lot of people do these back-under steps (don't know how to explain it)... but here Rob seems to be much more improvisational than that. I haven't any idea where and when I could learn all this and join in...
