Awesome, thanks :D I kept trying to figure out what everyone was doing but their feet move so quickly. And those who keep saying figure it out on the dance floor... it's great that you could do that but not everyone can. Sometimes you have to put yourself in another person's shoes. I'm the only person in my family who can't dance and vids like this HELP!

Those ppl are just gatekeeping… i Rememeber i got it suuuper easily within one night but not everyone is the same, there is no shame on asking for help… and like i said nobody can teach you to “feel the music” buy we can start by covering the easy basic moves

rubbish, she's feeling the music just fine. You can't dance Northern Soul unless you've been shown the basic moves first, so this is really helpful for those of us who didn't grow up up north. So stick that in your pipe and smoke it!

Why be a gatekeeper and be down in anyone trying to promote a scene you like and keep it alive? I've never been to a NS night, only just discovering it really, but I really want to. No way I'd walk in cold, the videos I've seen are intimidating with lots of people knowing the moves. Now I can at least practice one thing that can get me on a dance floor for that first time. That's a club night with extra door money, so the scene can survive!

45 years ago we learned by watching and then practicing at home. Didn't do us any harm infact people today want to dance how we did back then. We didn't have internet or mobile phones.
