The sig raskel is one of the most beautiful model aircraft ever to fly . Cheers Andrew.

thanks so much.. you are taking the channel in a great direction.. i started buying vintage catalogs and other resources a few years ago.. the prices are steep for good ones.. but the nostalgic factor makes it worth it.. started with a tower hobbies catalog of course.. 1983 was one that was pivotal in my modeling evolution as i was really getting into building and collecting.. my mom was sick and dying with cancer so my dad was buying me anything i wanted to keep my mind off the gravity of the time.. of course i didn't know that at the time.. just knew that i was ordering a lot of stuff.. and flying a lot.. getting into competition pattern flying. by the late 90s i was teaching my step-son to build and fly.. SIG played a huge role in almost every project.. still does to a degree.. i have several NIB Sig kits that i intend to eventually build.. thanks again..

@@dmrcflyr2 thank you.. i was 12-14 during that time.. i knew very well what was going on.. but my dad tried his best to make sure her illness didn't dominate my life.. flying/modeling was a time when i could take my mind off the gravity of the situation.. like you said.. sad and happy at the same time..

Great catalog. Today you can only get this information on the Internet. The catalogs were more comfortable to read and it was more fun to get the information there than from the Internet. Rebuild videos of all engines please...
@jondolling58685 күн бұрын
Thanks for the reply. I rebuilt all my OS engines watching your videos. I still am one of the only people flying glow at my club. Your were right in your video, not a fan of electric or foamies. I still build all my planes mostly from the 80's. Have a GP Super Sportster 120 kit with a Saito 120 all set to build. Keep your videos going!

I had an sig ultimate bipe profile that was so beautifully built. I hung it stupidly in a hobby shop to sell and forgotten about it. They went under and never told me. I miss that plane. 😢 I really miss those hobby shops that were full of everything in that catalog

I just found that same catalog on eBay 1997. That prop chart is too awesome!!!! It’s used unfortunately.

Totally agree about Hog bipe. It flew better than I expected it would. Not bad looking either, for a bipe. Whoever thought to turn the Hog into a bipe, was a neat idea.

Very enjoyable! There's something different about this older format that's really catching - maybe no cars or drones... I like seeing all of the kits I have or had: Wonder, Commander, Spacewalker I & II. Thanks David!

Hey David. I got addicted to rebuilding OS 2 strokes 45 - 90 all FSR engines. I have 7 - 45 FSR on hand if you need one for your collection let me know. Free of charge. Thanks for you videos and dedication to glow engines. My club flies all electric, new age!

Hey Jon, thank you for the comment and offer. believe it or not I currently have both a 45 FSR and a 40 FSR. I cannot recall if either has been shown on the channel as yet. Both came to me in the late months of 2024, maybe both in December. They need some cleaning and new bearings but are fine engines. I really appreciate your offer!

I think I watched it tonight? It was still sealed, brought back good memories! My last build is a Sig Astro Hog all finished with Sig Koverite and dope. The scheme will be a Fairchild PT-19. Live in MI will have to wait for final paint. Will put an OS 60 FSR in it. Keep on trucking. LOL

I haven't used dope for covering yet but I purchased gallons and quarts of sig dope so hopefully I can still cover an airplane that way before the supplies become totally unavailable.

You can still get Quite a bit of parts from sig.You can order online. You have the score on supertiger G75. If you have the wrecked one the onethat you bought for parts I sent you 1 along with the G90. You have three. My first saito was a s91 i got in 2007 I don't know what color the boxes were in 97 but it was in a white box It's cool, that sig used to sell glow engines.

I bought a set of plans for the 1/3 scale space walker and was able to acquire some parts from Sig. But they were going thru there transition to there new facility so things were kinda in disarray. I received the cowl, wing aluminum attaching brackets, instruction manual and a few other items. I didn't get anything else after talking with their customer service dept. and I got the impression they weren't much interested in selling spare parts. I was going to scratch build this beauty, even started ordering balsa from National balsa. So instead I am scratching a Bud Nosen 1/3.5 Mr. Mulligan 108" WS. Fiberglass parts from you guessed it Fiberglass Specialty and graphics from Callie Graphics and ask for the Nosen 1/3 scale, she did a beautiful job on them. I believe a good match for my big Super Tigers. When I get them from down south if my storage units don't burn up as I am writing this. They are 25 miles south of the fires going on in LA on 1-07-25. I used to live in Van Nuys east of there for six years. BTW Dan Reese was a contributor for Flying Models Magazine many years ago. I also had the pleasure of working with Jack Stafford of Stanford models and flew with him too. Jack sadly passed about 6-7 years ago. He could tell some stories of his model designing, building and flying career along with his time at Douglas in Santa Monica, Hughes in Culver City where the Spruce Goose was built.

Jack got sick and passed due to complications from pneumonia. The last time I saw him was at the beach south of LAX where we were flying gliders off the hills from the bike path. He gave me one of his kits that he wasn't ever going to build also gave me a couple of his plans for the cost of printing which was a 50+ inch Grumman at the same time I was building a Edo OSE-1 Navy float plane, only 10 were built, well I got a lot framed up tail feathering panels , fuse half built, outrigger floats and struts built out of home depot pink foam. and I was kitting enough for two. He had researched, designed, built his and ready to fly before I got where i am today, not finished. He could create a set of plans, cut parts, build and finish a beautiful creation in six months. His last creation was a 70" Locheed C-130 Hercules in coast guard colors, absolutely stunning. I believe some of his and mine flying buds acquired some of his aircraft. I purchased his 1/4 scale scratch Glove Swift, it's beautiful as old as it is and he threw in a 30" swift too. I did some work on to make it flyable. He sold everything including his house and moved to Sacramento California with his Son to live out the rest of his life. He will be missed and was a major contributor to the modeling industry along with Tom Fabbri, Tom's father, Dennis Dunn and others. I have a few of Stafford's classic kits I purchased on everyone's favorite, Ebay. Ok I have been long winded enough. I just want to say one more thing about Jack he should be inducted into the AMA hall of fame. I asked Tom and Dennis to try and get this done when he was still alive as they knew more about the whole history of the business. I hope it will get done before I am gone. John from Hayden, Idaho. Done now.

The modeling bug and the drooling over planes we have not had, owned or drenched in glow fuel. When my wife asks me why I need so many kits, I just reminder her that these planes are all waiting for their first date with me. Soon they will be taking out of the box, built and then flown until their wing and wheels fall off. 😁

Yea, I always used Monokote I live in apartment so It is not easy to use dope. I have to do it outside. Just got tired of Nitro peeling up the Monokote covering. Applying the covering and dope is easy. The painting is a pain. I use nitrate dope and Rustoleum paint with a 2K clear. Lots of work.

My ST 90 is 90% apart. I am having difficulty getting the sleeve out of the crankcase. Until that happens I cannot remove the piston, get the crankshaft out and replace the bearings. So I am a bit stuck there right now.

How about a Super Tiger 1000 or maybe 2000, I believe? I have 2 of them I assembled and 1 not. I was given to from Mr. Dan Reise, yes the same Dan I worked with at Hughes space and communications now Boeing defence systems. He had problems with them and got frustrated and gave to me to see if I could get them running. Well I moved from southern California to Hayden Idaho and the engines are still in storage in southern California. Do you know of any problems that the Super Tiger engines had? I always thought they were the prime of the time. I could never afford one, I was a K & B guy and hobby shack thunder tiger an OS Max 25 FS which I still have in a EAA 40" scratch built bipe from plans I borrowed. Yup i am a hoarder. Some cox engines too. John from Hayden, Idaho. 79 years old and proud of it.
