Look into RS3's "Invention", that's the precursor to Warding. I understand that it was a warding design idea to have Runecrafting be the source of magic gear, but that's hardly OSRS inspired. Players of both game versions have been talking about having more intuitive sources for gear since the games' inception, it's a stretch to call that OSRS inspiring RS3.

As someone who plays both games, i think both games take heavy inspiration off one another, like recently wrathmaw being a wildy "world boss" is already in RS3 as well, under wilderness flash events. then the aggression potions, and prayer renewal potions are both already in rs3 as well, and recently they released araxxor from rs3 too. a lot of the new weapons in osrs take inspiration from rs3 content too. So i feel personally that both games just take a great inspiration off one another and i think that's great, and works for both games to do. If one side is very successful with something i see no reason why the other can't try to be just as successful even with player bases being vastly different, i think botting is also a much bigger issue in osrs than rs3, but both games remain botted fairly heavily. That will inflate the numbers of amount of players a bit, OSRS definitely still the more popular game. but still a great vid :)

If Dreadmaw somehow makes it into the game as a wildy boss along with Sandmaw as its counterpart in the desert, then I think that they should both drop the same pet. This would be similar to how chaos element and chaos fanatic drop the same pet. Perhaps you could use Sandmaw or Dreadmaw teeth on whichever version of the pet you got to unlock the other version of the pet as a transmog. This way they both would share the same collection log slot giving players an alternative to farming pvp orientated content. I definitely think that all bosses should have a pet though for consistencies sake!

My original comment about it went as follows: Wrathmaw could work if it just respawned in a different spot every time it got defeated. Maybe with a bit of a longer respawn timer than your regular boss to give people time to restock or fight each other between spawns. Get a notification about the general location of where it spawns "You hear/feel a faint rumble from the Chaos Temple" if you're in the wildy at the time. I think the boss having random spawn times would only give the wilderness a few short bursts of activity when it spawns. Once it's dead, players would just go back to whatever else they were doing. If the boss is a constant factor, people would probably be more actively looking for it, giving higher chances of PvP encounters as well. But some people who PvP more than me pointed out that clans would just use scout bots, so that's gotta be addressed first, I suppose

2:01 runecrafting has been used to make high level magic equipment in rs3 since way back in 2012 when player owned ports were added and introduced Sea Singer equipment, so yeah, definitely not taking inspiration from Warding.

I feel like the intro is a little disingenuous. RS3 has been due for a Desert story line wrap up for a while now, and they desperately needed to pivot after poor reception of recent lore. GIM was also supposed to come out at the same time with OSRS when it was first announced but got shelved after a management change. If you really wanted to make a case you could've pointed to RS3 Vorkath and Zuk which are very clearly OSRS inspired.

I think a wildy worldboss would need more frequent spawns to make it interesting. If i spawns too little, its gonna be a pain in the ass for the common casual players. If it spawns too much, it makes the hunt for a world boss less exciting. I also think that theres should be an aspect of the boss thats going to make PvP during the boss fight somewhat difficult, as to make players really have to decide on whether they should unite or fight off their enemies.

TLDR - having more players than the main game doesnt mean its not just for nostalgia or majoritivly for nostalgia. Classic WoW, EQ2, Happis on Rust, Etc. People dont like change. When you cant pull new players but only pull 2nd accounts and people who USED to play and dont like the main game, its nostalgia bait. Asmon is right though....even if OSRS is bigger than Main Runescape. Look how many people play classic WoW vs. Retail WoW- it is nostalgia bait but its due to the main game not being the same game as it used to be. Calling new RS - RS3 and oldschool "Runescape 2" would be more apt. Even WoW Classic and WoW Retail should be called "WoW' and "WoW 2" imo - the issue is them not releasing a 2nd game but simply updating it. Otherwise its a new game in the same universe - having more players than not doesnt mean its not nostalgia bait- it just means that the devs used to be more in touch with what the players wanted and nostalgia for that time is king on a game that would be shut down without nostalgia. The one thing RS has over WoW is that you get cool updates to your Oldschool version where our oldschool version gets seasonal test runs to see if theyre gonna piss us off changing something or not. Classic is inspiring content for retail as well - we're going back to old gods that havent been seen since the game came out 16 years ago - WoW even said they wanted to go back to their roots and learn where they came from because there are 0 devs left from the original team, Theyre turning original CLASSIC DUNGEONS into raids because you can do them as a raid or a party in classic. I have 0 doubts OSRS is the same. Only OG devs work on OSRS and none work on Retail / New RS and have to pull from the originals to keep their game alive. Sorry it sucks because i loved RS as a kid but RS would be dead without OSRS just like WoW would be without Classic. Meaning its nostalgia bait.

126k players active in OSRS, half of which being bots and the other half being people playing 4 accounts at once. So in reality there's like 16k players in OSRS. I'm obviously joking, but it's kind of true. There's no doubt that there are more players in OSRS, but both botting and playing multiple accounts at once is far more common in OSRS, so I think going by pure player numbers is not telling the whole story.

How to fix Wrathmaw: - Remove limit on world spawns. Put one in every world just like every other boss in the game currently. - Remove FOMO aspect. Instead of time-gated spawns, have Wrathmaw spawn in a random location of the wilderness after EVERY death. - Adjust drop rates accordingly.

Pkers have PVP worlds and pvp spaces within normal worlds... why don't PVMers get PVM worlds where the drop rates are higher at bosses that are inside the wilderness areas but instead of pkers bring back roaming revs then the pkers can have what they want and pvmers will be more inclined to cross that norther ditch and support more content in the north!

OS also got skillcape perks first and, although they came to RS3 a few months earlier, silver jewelry was an Old School player's suggestion that got polled a month later, all but a few of these are 1-to-1 identical between games and most are the same as the original suggestion, RS3 just had a lot more resources at the time and could develop content a lot faster so they released it first. those are just the things off the top of my head, if I knew more about RS3 I'd probably be able to come up with more. I will mention that Ironman Mode, released simultaneously on both games, the games rules were kinda based on an OSRS video series called One Man Army.

@@darkychaothere’s a lot each game has taken from each other. osrs had zuk first, as well as skillcape perks (like you mentioned), and combat achievements. rs3 had prif, araxxor (very different fights though, so only really the same in name and location), and the stone of jas storyline that culminates in while guthix sleeps and ritual of the mahjarrat (which i expect will come to osrs in the near future)

@@trentlyon2799 well, mentions of the Stone of Jas and Priff have been in the game since '07, and WGS and Ritual were both pre-EoC, not RS3. (also, I believe that they've said that the Old School equivalent to Ritual of the Mahjarraht will be its own unique quest with a different outcome, since DT2's changed the circumstances quite a bit)
