Old School RuneScape (OSRS) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed and published by Jagex. The game was first released on 22 February 2013. When OSRS launched, it was originally an August 2007 build of RuneScape. However, it has since received engine improvements, new content, and quality of life updates largely decided by in-game polls. Despite having a smaller development team and a slower relative update schedule, OSRS has a larger player-base than RuneScape. A mobile version for Android and iOS was released in October 2018.
RuneScape takes place in the world of Gielinor, a medieval fantasy realm divided into different kingdoms, regions, and cities. Players can travel throughout Gielinor via a number of methods including on foot, magical spells, or charter ships. Each region offers different types of monsters, resources, and quests to challenge players. The game's fictional universe has also been explored through a tie-in video game on another of its maker's websites, FunOrb, Armies of Gielinor, and the novels Betrayal at Falador, Return to Canifis, and Legacy of Blood.

Nice vid! But you couldn’t be more wrong about death mechanics. They’re actually extremely forgiving in os, giving you an hour to run back and collect your items wherever you died from pvm death. But, they’re changing this verrrry soon and it will be like rs3 mechanics where u pay a fee to reclaim items

I'm surprised it took this long for you to get to this video, which is a diffinitive "Vagrant" style MMO to cover. The pacing of this is great! Group Ironman sounds awesome. The old 97-99 takes as much exp as 1-97 ended up turning me off to runescape eventually.

Death is more punishing in rs3 bc you actually have to pay a % of the value of your items to retrieve them.

That’s crazy when the hell did they remove that? I checked the death mechanics on the wiki, so things stay on the ground for an hour but if you don’t make it to it you still lose your stuff so it can still be a scramble to go get your shit lol

That’s why I say when you die you lose all your items except for your 3 most valuable unless you have the protection prayer on. The 1 hour limit was changed that I wasn’t aware of it used to be like what lol like 5 minutes? Lol Well unless you are skulled, then you just lose everything

@@VagrantVideos yea the 1 hour to get ur stuff back were u died in non pvp was added due to ddoss attacks 2013 2014 and part of 2015 they are still a problem to this day however precautions are taken to lessen the effects of these attacks

@@VagrantVideos I admire their work but unfortunately I find it really ugly. The lighting effects are nice to have but the textures look like slapping some photorealistic texture pack on minecraft. It's a shame too cause I saw there was a client that did manage to remake RSHD in OSRS with textures like the original and even the lighting matched. It just turned out to be some sort of scam so it got shut down

Let's be honest here that's actually one of the easiest bosses that only requires one prayer against melee and next to no movement or split second decisions. It's very hard to make a judgement overall about which is more difficult

Osrs death mechanic isnt hardcore anymore and has no risk at all since u have an hour to get your sht back.... it use to be 2 minutes but ddosers ruined pvm risk

@@VagrantVideos yea jagex is going to be implementing the grave stones like pre eoc so risk will come back but the problem atm is people are desensitized to risk now and rather be able to bring all their expensive gear for best dps ect. So most of the player base doesnt want risk to come back since the current mechanics they can make gp without risk of losing gp. Im a pvper im always risking my gear and i hate pvm now because since theres no risk theres no thrill with no thrill its just a boring grind for gp. Everyones a casual now lol I believe since the community is risk averse now thats why pvp is dieing not only the skill cap but a major reason is people dont like losing stuff now

you couldnt have been more wrong when you say it rivals the population of rs3. oldschool has way more players. take the number of players from rs3 mainpage and takeaway the number of oldschool players. that number is how many rs3 players are on. rs3 page uses both game servers as player count. while oldschool does not

Now there are a lot of bots, also on rs3, the ones cutting oak logs on osrs get over wc 80 before being banned, but jagex will get more advanced anti bot stuff in the future that will make it even harder to keep bots up.
