Old School Sherman Tunnel Car Wash, Pearl Brookpark Car Wash, Cleveland OH

We were fortunate to go through this car wash because it is one where customers are required to get out of the car and watch from windows inside the building. We asked the manager if we could sit inside, and he was nice enough to let us do just that. Quite a treat! Thank you to the great team of people here!

Wow! What a find that old Sherman wash still has its original utalog mitter kit. Those debued in the early 50's!

This may sound kind of weird, but the sound of the dryers is pretty nostalgic to me. My family and I used to always go to this carwash, when I was little. :)

My Dad would go through this Car Wash all the time when he lived in Cleveland back in the 70s. It's awesome to actually see the inside of this tunnel and see that it still mainly uses its original equipment.

My uncle had an arcade next door to that place, which is now an adult film store. The first time I visited that car wash, I was amazed, being a tunnel fanatic as a child. Kwik Car Wash was great too but was bought out by another franchise and rearranged. It's still worth visiting and I have footage from when it was still Kwik.

I think there are a couple of these around my neighborhood that are preserved well, just like this one. Thanks for confirming this is a Sherman, I saw the writing "Sherman" on the equipment, but I'm no car wash expert. Trying to learn...

KidsLoveCarWashes What you gotta do to learn is just compare the equipment from other people’s videos where they know what kind of equipment it is. Thats how I do it! Or you can just ask the manager.

This is a very old Sherman tunnel with two of those huge front to back mitters. There also is two newer AVW wrap arounds right before the Sherman arches. That Proto-Vest 90N probably replaced Sherman dryers.

This one includes Protovest dryers. Pretty rare to find for a Hanna Sherman tunnel.

@@thecarwashelevatorfanatic7433 Fun fact, Sherman had a short lived model 1885 dryer that was a blatant patent violation of Proto-Vest. There's probably a decent chance most of the stripper dryers replaced Sherman units.

Some of that equipment was newer. The original brush motors rotated more vigorously than what was demonstrated here. I don't think you can find a 1970's wash with the powerful brushes anymore.

This is a very popular car wash in the area, almost always a line to get in. Despite it's age, it washes better than most other local car washes in my opinion.
