The apartheid military was better, hands down, it was more disciplined and there is absolutely no reason why today's military should be so bad and its standards drop so low, no excuse at all since they have the same resources, equipment and they inherited the same military culture and fighting spirit since they suffered apartheid and some soldiers remained in the army after apartheid, they should be a fierce army. The education, economy, schools, hospitals were actually excellent but only for the minority. Areas in the outskirts and rural areas were barely touched by development, I think the evidence of that is still there even today for everyone to see, thanks to the ANC's incompetence of course. Schools and other infrastructure did not just disappear with apartheid though, they were never there, the system was designed for a minority, sadly. That goes with the rest of this damn continent, some claim that colonizers developed Africa but where is that development? these people had to start from scratch, they are busy building hospitals, schools, roads, rdp houses, simply because it was never there, at least not for them, period. It would help to vote in the DA now since apartheid is long over, it would be like the old South Africa but without apartheid, I think that is what everyone is looking for.

In fact, did you know that by the end of the 1980s, about 60% of the Army was black? For example, 121 Zulu Batallion was a well-respected unit, famous for their bravery and their fighting skills. Over 500 soldiers from 121 Zulu Batallion were killed during the Border War. The Batallion was disbanded in 1994 after the end of apartheid in South Africa.

People who think this is a matter of race don't get the full picture. The most decorated SADF soldier in the SF was a black man, Gabriel Fernando. Sure, apartheid existed, but it would have faded away as the segregation in the South of the USA. What we got was an inverse apartheid under the guise of "democracy". All because NATO, who was fine with apartheid SA as long as it kept the Soviet Union out of Africa, suddenly did not need a guard dog anymore after the fall of the USSR. They were all betrayed. I live in SA and I wish I could live in that time some people see apartheid as wrong but now that it is gone SA is a total mess papers lying in the ground and the police is so bad that when you call they don't even come.

@@thebadstation8416 The Afrikaners did not "come to oppress natives." Most black South Africans today are descended from people who were not even in South Africa when the Europeans arrived. The only people who are oppressed are the Afrikaners/Boers. Black South Africans have committed much violence towards them.

Second, consider the Mfecane (also known as the Difaqane or Lifaqane) when a group of black people killed lots of other black people - far more than the Apartheid government did. In fact, in the 1820s they also pushed the Ndebele people (originally from the upper Thukela River region) out of South Africa into Zimbabwe and Botswana. So, if you support land claims, to be fair, those Ndebele people should be allowed to claim back their ancestral land in South Africa (in KwaZulu-Natal province), Right? Third, white people arrived in South Africa in 1652. The Ndebele arrived in upper KwaZulu-Natal in the late 1600s. The Sotho-Tswana, Shangaan-Tsonga and Venda all arrived at about the same time period (17th century). The Zulu Kingdom was founded by Shaka Zulu in the 1800s (early 19th century). So white people have been in South Africa just as long as some of the Black people and longer than others. Finally, South Africa is ruled by South Africans, a corrupt, incompetent and racist government that is doing a terrible job and destroying everything previous generations (of all races) have built.
