So there's no money to maintain ordnance but how much money is needed to maintain physical health. From general to troopie, the obesity displayed indicates that a vast number of military personnel are not fit for purpose. Perhaps the experts can comment on that some time?

A few questions I have after seeing this documentary, as insightful as it is. 1. So I know we do not have any radar guided LRAAAM (air to air longe range missiles) and we are either to poor or to stupid to buy proper missiles from America. So my question is, if China decided to declare war on us, would our planes be shot up by PL-15's on the first day or do you think the ANC will blow them up without China's assistance? 2. While the girth of our generals can inspire terror in the heart of every casket carrier from here to timbuktu, our navy could not inspire terror in a basket case with PTSD on a rubber dinghy. My question is, how many fancy 5-star boutique hotel dinners would these brave generals need to sacrifice in order to give our navy a radar from this particular century? 3. This is my final question, and this is the one I understand the least. If the army is there in order to respond to crime, gang violence, floode and other natural catastrophes, then why do we need emergency services? Why does the police have a fantastically trained armed response force if we are going to send Sipho with an R4? Why don't we just take the fire department, paramedics, SAPD and SANDF throw them into a building call them and see who answers first?

There are 3 main things lacking in the SANDF of which resources is not even the main reason.....or excuse. So here it is : 1. Poor training. Simply look at the circus when they stranded vehicles on the beach and many more examples on KZbin. 2. Corruption is the reason for the lack of funds. 3. Lack of integrity, honour and commitment. The sad fact is that a country in Nnorth Africa, Djibouti, has a better Police and Military presence in a rather poor country. Yes, they have the USAF and French there, but I am referring to what DJIBOUTI has in terms of their security forces. How does this make sense. If anyone doubts this and has the opportunity to pass via Djibouti (which is not a pleasant place) to the final destination just look down as you land. USAF and French Air Force is to the right of the runway and that of Djibouti closer to the end of the runway to the left. How did South Africa get here? Simple answer is incompetence and corruption. Combined it simply is a destructive combination that will simply, as shown here, lead to failure.

The SANDF is a national joke. No wonder no one has even attempted to invade RSA since 1994 because we won't be a worthy opponent! LMFAO.

I personally think the decision for the SAAF to replace the Domestic Cheetahs with SAAB Gripens was a massive mistake. Not only does buying foreign equipment cost alot of money, but it creates a huge reliance on the manufacture's supply of spare parts for maintenance. South Africa has (had?) an advance military aviation industry, and the skills to support it. So as to why, a domestic upgrade was not done, is strikingly odd. If the SAAF had to import/buy any Jet Fighter platform, any of the Soviet platforms would have been tenfold better. Simply put, they could buy for example MiG23s or MiG29 airframes, and do what South Africans do best (perform massive avionics upgrades). Having done this, not only would they have a more domestic platform, but the SAAF would not struggle with financing the maintenance of these. For 2 reasons: 1. Most to all of Africa, especially Southern Africa, have surplus of soviet jet platforms in service (available spare parts). 2. The upgraded avionics South Africa would have done, would prove to be a excellent business venture, as the same upgrade package could be performed and sold, to neighboring countries who fly and use the same Soviet Built fighters. It would have been far more logical to do all this, and far less expensive. (Not to mention, the fact that the same Soviet Fighter platforms, are considerably cheaper to maintain, compared to the SAAB gripen)....
