I regularly buy these in a 4 pack from Aldi. It's about 5.50. Can't go wrong. Such a nice winter one to take my time with, on a weekend, while it's blowing up a storm outside and pissing it down. 😂 Love putting my 'fake fire' on and letting the 'flames' flicker against the glass and through the Ale.

@@bandsbikesandboozereviews is Old Speckled Hen a English Style Bitter or a English Pale Ale because some say it's a Bitter others say it's a English Pale Ale
@bandsbikesandboozereviews4 жыл бұрын
@@TheAaronChand I'd say it's neither. If anything it's just an English style ale. I think the Pale Ale name was given to it for marketing purposes.

Drinking it right now. Like yourself was put off by skunked bottles a good many years ago. I had become an american hop fiend too until the last year when have been revisiting British styles and loving them. My verdict? Very drinkable and lots of taste with a hint of good old nostalgia thrown in. Cheers!

British beers are so underrated, especially at the moment when USA hopped craft beers seem to be in fashion.

Great informative review! I recently picked up a six pack in the States that's in black bottles. They must be listening to you! It has wrap around cardboard packaging too. I'm enjoying the beer, no skunk detected. Cheers! 🍻

Well done on the derivation of the name!

Nice review and great history lesson, I saw this in a Spoons last week, interestingly enough its been bumped back upto 5% at cask. So I had a couple and they were very nice ( they also had Bishops Finger at 5%) , it is a little sweet for me so I agree you wouldnt session on them, the 3rd pint would be like drinking liquid Rolo. but it piqued my interest enough for me to see it in line at Lidl today and buy a 4 pack(cans of course) for Sundays Formula 1 :)

Brilliant review as always buddy, it used to be 5.5% and on cask was exquisite. Its not the same as it once was, however as you say, it's a good in the can.

Yep - you're right, completely forgot it used to be 5.5% on cask and in the bottles too as far as I can remember.

Love this beer, never had a bad one out of a bottle yet,maybe you were unlucky when you tried the bottled version.

I thought it had a widget in the can?

No, not from my experience. It was never nitro infused, always carbonated.

at one time I believe it did, at least from what i remember from last having it. That may have been a limited time thing, but it was several years ago when I drank it.
