Nice. I’m just restoring a VF 750F. I’m in the U.K., there aren’t many of them about now.

I put 86,000 km. on my Canadian model...2 engines, plus a rebuilt crankshaft and bearings in the 2nd engine...tons of fun....used to do stoppies before they became mainstream....probably did 100 mph every day, for 6 years...

The spark boxes suffer cracked solder joints, they are old fashioned electronics that you can actually get a soldering iron on to fix rather than the sealed epoxy potted units you get on more modern stuff.

The bike redlines at 12k. Hitting 8k is nothing for this bike, as 4k isn't even breaking a sweat. Calm down and take drink of your favorite adult beverage...I would rather know if it's going to break at this point not on the road vs. on the road.

Don't tell me this bike had it's engine removed for some buggy. Waste of a legendary bike.

Ripums and sparklers? LOL! The VFR 500 Interceptor that I have my eyes on Is also at a local asking price but in much better condition than this one. I think if a couple of knuckleheads like you guys can tackle an overhaul of this nature, I should do just fine. Thanks for sharing your experience on this classic Honda race bike!

On my 1986 VFR750 the radiator pivots at the top, undo the 2 lower bolts and gently pull out the base of the radiator, it gives one access to the park plugs. Might be the same on the 500 ?

It's possible. We'll never know now though...

I just bought a 1984 Honda interceptor 500, guy said it needs an internal thermostats. Any idea what all that involve?
@talan22984 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is the round fist sized part in this picture that the lrg hose runs to from above the front right amber reflector backward towards the thermostat housing. Inside is the thermostat. I believe it’s approximately $70. East replacement but replace the gasket as well, another $6. 7 min job for the avg handyman.

That there is an awesome classic bike, SON! I sure hope you build it back to showroom stock condition and not BIKER BOYZZZZZ it with neon glo-lights and dumb stuff like that. Best know how to take care of this bike if you are to be deserving of riding it.

Ssssooooo we had bought this bike as an engine donor. The engine currently resides in a golf cart. There's a playlist on the channel dedicated to it.

Unless you get a gravity feed kit of of a 86
@prawny12009 Жыл бұрын
You can run them off the top tank with a gravity feed. The spark boxes on these suffer cracked solder joints.
