One of Jonathan's children was baptized on Saturday. Afterwards, Daniel asked if I was tired. I said, "No. I was actually just thinking about the scriptures and how much I love the Book of Mormon." Almost those same words, Chelsea! :)

Rock-I love this as Jesus is my rock and my salvation. I am so grateful for an endless list of all the blessings intermingled between those things that can often take us to dispare, however, hanging onto the rod to make it back to our Heavenly home is going to make it all worthwhile. Thanks for the sharing these beautiful messages.

This is late but I love "There is Sunshine in my Soul today". I have loved to sing since I was a toddler and have been in many choirs and a singing group many years. It's been an important, vital method of worship for me. Until I had a neck surgery that left me with a partially paralyzed vocal cord. It has been very difficult to lose that gift. I so appreciate the hymn line "Jesus listening can hear the songs I cannot sing". He still hears my singing heart! And I trust that in the resurrection I will again worship and praise aloud through song!

I went to the back of the hymn book, page 410, and read through the list of hymns that are based on the psalms. It is the longest list of any book in the Bible and Book of Mormon. It was enlightening to connect the Psalm with the hymn. I think I have been missing something by not reading the scriptural references to the hymns that we are singing. I agree about being spiritually needy. I am aware every day how dependent I am upon our God.

I loved your explanation of joyful noise! After my daughter passed many of her friends would come over once a week and have dinner with me and watch a TV show that my daughter and I always watched together. One night as I sat there watching and listening to them as they put dinner on their plates, I felt so good and peaceful. That was many years ago and I still think about it. I am now referring to that as my joyful noise.

A comment for last weeks lesson: One of my favorite memories when I was much younger, when attending a conference. Joseph Fielding Smith was the prophet and Jessie Evans Smith was his wife. At this conference the tabernacle choir sang "The King of Glory, and Jessie Evans sang this song (Psalm) along with the choir, He that hath clean hands and a Pure Heart. If you get time look it up and listen to this gorgeous voice singing this Psalm. Thank you so much you two lovely people for our Sabbath time with you.

Watching from a tiny island in the South Pacific called American Samoa. Thank you for the CFM lessons. Our family love watching and hearing you both share your insights of the lessons. We have a daughter named Daenerys that is always off when we sing songs for prayer, in sacrament meeting and also in primary. She sings to her own tune haha. So when we heard you mention to sing louder we chuckled and pointed at her. Enjoy the youth conference and Sacred Grove. Our ward just ended our youth conference and camp last week.

I love singing the hymns. But it seems the past few years we’ve started singing less in church. We don’t have opening/closing songs in RS and since Covid our ward hasn’t had a choir or rest hymn in sacrament. Even the Southern CA LDS choir hasn’t started back up yet. I miss singing. I heard a comment by a member of the group Gentri about how music works! It came from one of the older Osmond brothers....I cannot quote it exactly but he said...the reason music touches us so much more is because it by passes the conscious and reaches the subconscious. I believe that! Thanks for a wonderful discussion....the Psalms are opening up to me in a completely different light! Maybe they are reaching my subconscious and my heart better! Im from Silsbee, Texas!

One of my favourite Dolly Parton movies is "Joyful Noise" and it's about a small town choir. The joyful noise here was their singing. An appropriate phrase for studying Psalms. My testimony of the Saviour came to me through the Holy Ghost when we sang an intermediate hymn in church many years ago. I was so overcome by the Spirit that I could not utter a word, I just listened and followed the words on the page while the Spirit testified of the Living Son of God. 😊❤️🙏🇦🇺🐨

For last week....my favorite hymn is. " The Spirit of God" . And I think that is partly because we sing it at each Temple Dedication, but also because it touched my soul so deeply, when I first joined the church ( at 25) .. 43 years ago, after a loooong search for truth. It testified truth to me, then and still does, deeply, to this day. ❤ from Cranbrook BC

I live further northwest of Stockton in Healdsburg California, for a fun fact. Having a clean heart for me is giving it all to Jesus Christ. I'm working through some deep resentment, working on releasing inner pains, and blockages that are keeping me from being able to speak my feelings and thoughts to others, to stop myself from being silent and avoiding the deep meaning within me; Eh?
