(Old) The Anglican View of Priesthood

I pretty much disagree with most of this although I do think the differences between Anglicanism and Catholicism are good steps in the right direction. I do want to say that was a very good video representing and explaining your position very succinctly. I’m curious as to why they are called priests. They don’t exert a mediator role(which I think is correct-only Christ is our mediator). My understanding is that the main thing a priest does by definition is is to be a mediator.

Priest comes from presbyter, meaning elder, whereas the Greek word used when referring to the old testament priesthood, Christ in a priestly position, or the priesthood of all believers is ieros.

There’s a technical error where you say that priests can hear confessions and can marry people. In the Latin Rite the husband and wife marry each other and the presiding priest or deacon is merely a witness and master of ceremonies.

I get what you're saying when you say "priests are still part of the laity", but I think it's better to describe clergy and laity as sharing and expressing in different ways the common priesthood of the baptised. To be lay is to not be ordained. Excellent video though!

Deaconesses have always existed in the Eastern Churches. Also Deacons and Priests don’t have to be celibate but once married and ordained they can’t remarry. If their spouse dies and they want to remarry, typically they either have to be celibate or become laicized. The Eastern Churches don’t ordain women beyond Deaconess though. Not yet anyway.

There are no Catholic vestments in the Anglican Church . These only entered the CofE due to the Tractarian movement. Choir dress is prescribed nothing else.
