Model airplane sailing as an Art: the landscape, the ballet of movements, the connection to the music in synchronisation, the lucent and pure structure of the models, this one in particular. In admiration for your creations I say Many Thanks for your productions seen so far and more to come! 🎶🎹🎶🧡

I've just been flying tonight an algebra 2.5 m Mick reeves kit ( Sean bannister design ) on northerly ridge. Minimal lift but inspired by your flying from "wall". Model is 42 years old but still flies well ! Have got Keil Kraft invader kit + chief + caprice + Conquest + Pioneer so may try to convert them to RC. Your flying is so inspirational, I can't stop looking at KZbin ! Thanks again. Jd from Cumbria.

John, Sheer artistry! Nothing is more relaxing than coming home from a hectic day at work and seeing another new video of yours. The Leprechaun is just so mesmerizing, the way it skims over the heather, mere inches above the surface, with such majestic grace. The angles at which you film your flights are also fantastic. ie. low ground hugging shots where the aircraft suddenly appears from behind a low rise in the landscape. Very dramatic. Kudos to your camera person. Then add the beautiful soundtrack behind it all, and you have the makings of a very relaxing, yet entertaining short film. Thank you for the time and effort you put into these videos and am always looking forward to the next one. It would be so nice see a "build video" or thread of one of your masterful builds in the future also. Blue skies and smooth lift!

I just noticed that all your downwind to upwind transitions were over the mesa of the cliff near or behind you. Is that an illusion? The elegant elliptical wings are very pleasing to the eye. As always, I heap praises on your building, flying, camera and video production!

Thank you again. It’s not an illusion. This is a fairly old video now. It’s looks quite shaky as it was filmed on an old camera which didn’t have any inbuilt stabilisation,

I have a question on the environment conditions. What is the ideal wind speed with light gliders on your cliffs? Is it in the range of 10 knots? Moreover: do you take advantage of thermal current, or is the wind blowing up on the cliff sufficient to take up the model?
@SlopeRCGliders
@SlopeRCGliders 5 жыл бұрын
Claudio carrelli 10 knots would be about the maximum. Anything between 2 and 10 would be ideal. I’m relying completely on the slope generated lift, from the smooth wind coming in from the ocean.
@claudiocarrelli9391
@claudiocarrelli9391 5 жыл бұрын
Thanks John, so you can make a great choice of models depending on the strength of the breeze!! I have seen some others of your videos, I would guess close to 15 knots, with very fast gliders!

John, your videos are really inspiring! Reminds me why I got into aeromodelling. Please keep them coming. Anyway, it looks like I will need to build a Leprechaun now. Can I ask, do you think there would be an advantage to include ailerons on this model?
@SlopeRCGliders
@SlopeRCGliders 5 жыл бұрын
Matthew Prince I know a few people that have built it with ailerons. It would certainly give more control on the windier days. I just like the simplicity and lightness without, as I tend to just fly it on gentle days.

I'm building one of these because of your videos John! Is this at Perranporth or is the site a secret? Don't blame you if it is, I often fly at dawn to get a bit of solitude before all the competent pilots turn up and laugh at my landings! Then build the Lazy bee, Thermalist........

David Baker thank you. Yes it’s Perranporth. It’s not a secret but I seem to be the only person who flies there. I only live a short walk from the slope but all the local fliers go to St Agnes as there is a car park right by the slope. Good luck with the build. It does seem to fly well.
