I have told you canarian people are very outgoing and friendly and pleasant. If you came to Tenerife you would love the old city of La Laguna and Garachico and other towns, as well as its forests and mountains and people. The Canary islands, Madeira and Azores played a very important role in the discovery of the new world, our ports were the supply and shipping shuttles for European settlers and slaves, as well as the reception first before Europe of merchandise and goods. in the American continent it was very strong, reciprocally on both sides, culture, customs, traditions, oral expressions and speech, etc, etc. We had a great role in history and almost nobody knows it ... Cities like San Cristobal de la Laguna in Tenerife, were the example of new colonial cities that were copied in the new world ...

I have no doubts about the PEOPLE character, no matter where the live....Concerning Canary I already wrote that the natural landscape was very much improve by the hardworking people of Gran Canary....Have you red that!?

Indeed...I have rex a lot about that subject of Great Discoveries in the 15th century made by portuguese& spanish towards " New World".....Colon ( who was not spanish) convinced Queen Isabela & King Ferdinand ( quite after the Requenchista) that he will find a new way to reach India by going west ....in fact he did discover Caraibe islands and central America ( Cuba, Haiti, with their native population) ....Rest is history.....In fact the " engine" both for the portuguese( Bartolomeu Diaz Vasco da Gama , Magellan- who worked fod spaniards) was to get more power, wealth, influence on a global scale in order to compete the Otoman empire...They did very well in that respect....

Certainly no one yet knows the true origin of Christopher Columbus, some say that if he was Genoese, others that if he was from Catalonia or even from Galicia, that is not known with certainty today, it is said from Genoa, but that is bla,bla,bla... One point is true, he married the daughter of the donated captain of the island of Porto Santo, (Madeira) and it is there that he is informed and has knowledge of new routes and lands to the west thanks to the sailors from the islands and his own father-in-law, Bartolomeo Perestrelo, who was a sailor, such as João Gonzalves Zarco and Tristão da Ilha ......

@@juanmendez8649 True...In fact Galicia means actual Portugal.... nevertheless he took many secrets with him in the grave.Even his sons were kept in darkness about the real origin...Today we may say he was a citizen of his world....Fact is every positive aspect of human activity has a negative side too...if you know what I mean....

Spain was a Roman colony, Hispania, after the fall of the Empire, was invaded by Visigods and others, and finally the Moors. All these cultures make the modern Spain much more rich and varied, we do not moan about our past history, we make it part of our present. Central and South Americans are still feeling sorry for themselves, still feeling victims of a part of history that happened Hundreds of years ago and still doing nothing to improve the life of its citizens.

@@lilianamendive6222 So I see...for you history is only positive stories ..You are not interested in the whole truth...This is not fair....not for me....

@@danicornea And you think that the invasions in Spain were "nice"? Of course not, were forceful and painful, societies, like human beings learn and move on. Part of that learning should be to improve as a society, to try to do better, which the opposite of what Latinoamerica has done.
